Yeah I quickly noticed Nzgina was literally all the strengths and none of the drawbacks of old Kongo. Kongo combined with Lady Six Sky (but without any of her drawbacks either)

Yeah theres simply no reason to play old kongo now that Nzinga exists. She's simply too strong and like you said, can reap all the yeilds with basically none of the repercussions.

A very strong advantage of Nzinga mbande is the combination of her special district with jungles and forests. Her housing district (which she gets at guilds) doesn't destroy forests, so you can use their adjacency bonus witthout losing the extra adjacency from districts. Same with Campus and jungle.

My first Diety victory was with Basil the Unfathomably Based Bulgar Slayer (Byzantium). Got a religious victory with Tagma spam, very happy about that, especially since I had suzerainty over Yerevan.

I feel like you get so lucky normally with Barbs. This game is like my standard experience with barbs and game starts. Even when I scout well, like 3 barbs come from different directions and see me no matter what I do.

city state placement determines barb luck, if i have a direction with no neighbors or city states i put a picket screen for enemy scouts. its worth the 20 turn delay bc i have had so many games ruined by barbs destroying my life

My first win on deity was yesterday played Trajan wanted a early war but couldn’t do it. Waited out and conquered my neighbour Saladins cities when it declared war on my vassal state 😂 managed to keep other 2 neighbours in check with a few skirmish here and there but won a well deserved science victory around turn 400 👍

I'm playing my first enormous map game (started with around 25 Civs) and she's leading Kongo to a run away scientific victory. The science she is generating per turn is insane. It's almost triple of the rest of the civs in the field. I'm playing as Bull Moose where I lucked out and stared on my own big continent/island with a mountain range, so I'm trying to build national parks and go for a culture victory. Thanks for all your videos, by the way. I learned alot about how to play the game from watching your videos!

I know this video is 4 days old but I wanted to tell you a strong starting combo. Reyna governor promoted with the gold per unpassable feature with rainforest adjacency. Solves the tempo problem with gold and possibly the golden age (high adjacency holy site). Then the Theology double adjacency when 20% yield from void singers

Regarding era score i find amani as first governor is really helpful securing golden age, i usually make 1 pingala city with oracle to make a lot of great person, commercial hub as first district and theater square afterwards, with this kinda setup i rarely not having golden age from start to finish

My main concern with chopping/harvesting is that the return seems so poor. Bear in mind, I'm on vanilla, so no Magnus-chops. Still, getting rid of a permanent 1 production yield in game that will go on for another 150-200 turns, in return for 50 turns worth of immediate yield seems like a raw deal to me, unless you have the luxury of hills, in which case you can replace the resource with a mine. Also, Potato please do a vanilla playthrough in the near-future. If nothing else, I think it would be a change of pace to not have ages, climate change and governors.

With the way deity AI works you want that production immediately. It all about that opportunity cost. Being able to build infrastructure or secure wonders early on in the game is a worthy trade for missing out on passive production later. Even without Magnus. At the very least you wanna be chopping mine locations.

Part of why people chop is because that extra production isn't just lost forever. You get a big payout, and free up the tile for mines, or a district or a farm. Later you can even replant a forest for a national park or lumber mill. So it's not lost. But without magnus it certainly isn't as op as people say, still worth doing, especially for things like wonders where hard building it in higher difficulties is outright impossible.

I'd be fine with them toning down Nzinga because that 10% bonus is bonkers (it's not at all balanced by the -15% on other continents because in 95% of games you can put good, early game cities on your home continent and those power up exponentially faster than later settled cities) and their relic/mbanza benefits are also well above average, but it's super fun being able to play Kongo and your own religion.

Tried my first game with this leader on deity earlier today. Didn't go so well. I tried something very similar to this but Arabia stole my prophet even though I was on pace to get the last one as I was delayed by an early war declaration by Japan. Sandwiched in between those two I got up to 6 cities and a joint forever war declaration starting in the classical era lasting all the way to the end of the medieval and even though I conquered Mexico from Arabia, I just couldn't get my infrastructure going as I had to build too many units and was getting too far behind in tech to hold out any more. Well try again, I guess. These things can happen on deity.

When I play the game in modded it does that exact same thing with the scout icon but only with the cat scout so I assume there’s a problem with it at the 2K end - normally looks fine when I play with BBG on or with Witcher civs in single player

I turned off the cat scout on console and it helped with a few* of my crashes.. also I found that the alternate version Civ leaders seem to cause lag or crashing (China/America/France) when trade routes expire.

India is a hard neighbor because of their calvary replacement which stays viable into the renniassance era because it drops adjacent enemies combat strength by 5. They are a nightmare to conquer until bombards and cuirassiers
