I know this version is from 2019, but I just received the new Folio Society two volume set of it. I'm so looking forward to reading this again. It's been about 15 years since I first read it. It truly is one of my favorite novels.

I see that the Folio Society had 750 copies, and they're all gone. Will you have more in the future?

Hi Marelisa! Unfortunately this was a limited edition so we only made a certain amount of copies and they have all now been sold. However, we have also made a non-limited two volume set on this edition - it includes all the same illustrations and the wonderful new translation. Do have a look on our website!

Spent a lot of money for a translation that lost me in the first paragraph. Differs little from P & V version and utterly lacks the musicality of Hayward which the Establishment (capital E) has informed me is problematic. "They walked and walked ..." versus "On they went ...?" And "Whenever they stopped it seemed ..." versus Hayward's "whenever they stopped, their feet, the horses ..." And then, singing versus anthem? I'm guessing there was a reason why Pasternak chose anthem versus singing but, alas, it's lost to me as a middle-class English speaking American. The Hayward translation simply grasp you in the first paragraph and "sings" whereas these "other" translations still seem clumsy and plodding. Can someone help here as to why this is soooo great?

Actually, the translation you didn't like is closer to original meaning as far as I can tell. "On they went" doesn't seem to catch that feeling of the long taking slow process. So, the translation you dislike is more literal, closer to the original sourse. Try reading it again, I'm sure after some time you'll get used to it and like it. I'm not sure though if that translation is so literal that it's just impossible for english-speaking to read or not but it's probably good from what I can see.
