The new player experience fucking sucks. With that said, no matter how miserable it gets just bear through it. Slacks is also making a community tutorial that should be available in game by the anime release date. If you survive the first 50-60ish hours you'll fall in love with a world so diverse and a game filled with fascinating mechanics and possibilities it's basically amazing. Also, you get to enjoy the best esports tournament in the world, The Intenational (TI), from no commercials in the whole broadcast, to Slacks running around doing silly stuff with players and fans and of course breathtaking dispplay of skill and the best casting commentry on any esports, period) there is nothing like TI. No other tourney comes even within a mile of TI's quality.

Me too, i think it's somewhat interesting to start with dk and mirana's story because it's simple to understand, even if you never played the game, if anything it's an advertisement for newcomers. And a shot for valve to dive into filmmaking. But in terms of lore it's not the best lore that dota 2 has to offer.
