I honestly think that's why Whittaker's reign fell flat (other than Chibnall inserting a multitude of things Daddy Russell is going to have to fix (killing the time lords AGAIN, cyber lords, timeless child)). The music wasn't as good, they underdeveloped her character and made her weaker (Dhawan was such an excellent Master, and I appreciate a "bad guys win" narrative, but the way they did it made Whittaker look weak, not helping the feminist narrative they were going for), I'm really hoping we get the "vibe" back.

@@bethgardner31 frankly, I thought the music from s12 onwards was one of the only good parts of Chibnall's era, and peaked during 13's regeneration scene. It was just a huge contrast to Gold's tendency towards bombastic orchestral music. That said, some musical continuity would have been appreciated. Should have kept at least one of the old dalek themes. There were several points in s12 that really would have benefitted from Gold's cybermen leitmotif, or his s1 theme for the doctor, or old companion themes.

I’ve been watching this show for a decade. As a… French Sub-Saharan African Whovian (lol). I started with the 10th, in 2010. It was a real love at first sight because this wonderful series mixes sci-fi, science/astronomy, history, and action (yeah quit). Doctor Who also comes with beautiful speeches about life’s philosophy and a magnificent soundtrack to accompany this. I’m now 25 years old. 😅 I hope the newcomers will be as curious as I am to discover this universe (even if the video takes a lot of shortcuts).

A good start, but you gotta tell people about the sonic screwdriver and how they also regenerate, along with the tardis, every time The Doctor regnerates. That would explain to a lot of newcomers all the different actors over time. It's an epic long running series. I hope it never ends.

The Doctor is still a Time Lord even if they aren't Gallifreyan. Ace became a Time Lord in the pre-New Who canon, despite the fact she started out as Human. That implies that anyone who goes through the Academy can become a Time Lord, regardless of their original species

I know I'm being old-fashioned, and nothing against Jodie, who did a great job, but I think there should still be Time Lords and Time Ladies and not mix and match. For The Master to become Missy, which could have been a special process, in order to disguise themselves, since they are a wanted criminal of Time, I can see that. But to have the 13th Doctor change genders with no explanation as to why, never sat well with me. Call it due to the extra regenerations that were given him, call it because something happened in the process, but explain it, not "oh, they all can just do that"...I'm looking forward to this new season, however and super excited to be able to watch it!

That’s a great way of explaining it without sounding like a lunatic. But introducing people to it you need to pick an episode carefully. I had seen one of two episodes when a friend tried introducing it to some other friends. She picked a random episode and it was really weird even by Doctor Who standards. Both her and I were like “uhhhh, what did I just watch.”And our other friends “I don’t see the appeal.”

I’ll tell you what is new in Dr Who in Australia. After supporting this program for just on 60 years and having the BBC promise our broadcaster the ABC that it would always get first option to buy the rights to show Doctor Who in Australia , the BBC has stiffed us and sold us out to the steaming mess that is Disney. So much for loyalty .

Yeah, good video. But kinda misleading. I always laugh when I see the Christopher Eccleston season regarded as Season 1 or Series 1. The show actually did run for 26 series between 1963 - 1989 before it was cancelled. The BBC turned their backs on it for 16 years before finally coming around to the notion that there could be some cash to be made out of the old franchise. So let's hear it for William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and their various companions (not forgetting K-9!), all of whom rode in the Tardis long before these 'new' guys!

Yes, great but then there’s the timeless child but, where he is an alien that is not originally from Gallifrey, and gave the time lords immortality. His not the last of the time lords? Isn’t the master one too. Firstly he could only regenerate 12/13 times, now it’s forever so in reality he is never ever in any real danger himself. Or their self. I love the show, I still think it’s the greatest, but things don’t add up the same as they used too.
