I first heard this song in 1999. I never even listened to Christian music before this. I heard this song only a few days after I tried to take my own life. I was flipping through the channels on the radio and this song was on. I pulled over and started crying my eyes out. It was a very dark time in my life, and I feel this song and the message saved my life. I will always be grateful for this. Thank you.

To the guys of Jars of Clay. You are anointed. This is the first Christian song I fell in love with, and to this day it gives me goosebumps, guidance during struggle, and reminds me to be humble. I love you all.

My teenage son introduced me to this song many years ago. He's 35 now. He (and his mother and I) certainly felt like our world was taken apart at times. (He had some pretty significant health issues). Now his Mom (and my wife of 45 years) is finishing up treatments for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. We are believers in the risen Christ. We haven't gathered with the saints in years, but we talk to God daily and ask for intercession. We are faithful that he will deliver. "Though He slay me, yet I will praise Him"

I loved this song 5 years ago, i sang it often to God in my quite times. And somehow i've forgotten about it. A few days ago i had the topic of salvation, grace and God's unending love on my heart and i've bumped into this song again. Thank you, JOC. God is soo good, it's so unbelievable how he takes us and loves despite of our egoism and failures. I'm so thankful how God directed my steps in the last 5 years. God is good♥️

I am the only one to blame for this Somehow it all ends up the same Soaring on the wings of selfish pride I flew too high and like Icarus I collide With a world I try so hard to leave behind To rid myself of all but love, to give and die To turn away and not become Another nail to pierce the skin of one who loves More deeply than the oceans More abundant than the tear Of a world embracing every heartache Can I be the one to sacrifice Or grip the spear and watch the blood and water flow To love you - Take my world apart To need you - I am on my knees To love you - Take my world apart To need you - Broken on my knees All said and done I stand alone Amongst remains of a life I should not own It takes all I am to believe In the mercy that covers me Did you really have to die for me All I am for all you are What I need and what I believe are worlds apart And I pray To love you - Take my world apart To need you - I am on my knees To love you - Take my world apart To need you - Broken on my knees On my knees I look beyond the empty cross Forgetting what my life has cost Wipe away the crimson stains Dull the nails that still remain More and more I need you now I owe you more each passing hour Battles between grace and pride I gave up not so long ago So steal my heart and take the pain And wash the feet and cleanse my pride Take the selfish, take the weak And all the things I cannot hide Take the beauty, take my tears Sin-soaked heart, make it yours Take my world all apart Take it now, take it now And serve the ones that I despise Speak the words I can't deny Watch the world I used to love Fall to dust and blow away I look beyond the empty cross Forgetting what my life has cost Wipe away the crimson stains Dull the nails that still remain So steal my heart and take the pain Take the selfish, take the weak And all the things i cannot hide Take the beauty, take my tears Take my world apart, take my world apart I pray, and I pray, and I pray Take my world apart Worlds apart

I don't like today's so-called "Christian songs". But I still love the Christian songs from the 90s. BTW, if you want to know what Dan Haseltine is up to, he is involved with cowriting the score for a new internet tv show called The Chosen. It's not on Netflix, but you can find it on Pureflix as well as KZbin and Facebook. It's about the life of Christ and how He related to the people around Him. It's wonderful! I never realized before what a gift for writing music that Dan has! Check it out! I know you'll be glad you did! 👍👍😊💟💟🙏🙏
