I lived there for 5 LONG years as a USN dependent, it's much more developed than it was at the time I was there. International calling was ridiculously priced @ $1.35 / minute to the United States. We had the proverbial McDonald's, Pizza Hut, and get this one, a mobile roach coach Burger King 👑. This was all in the early ’90s time frame. Beautiful location for sure and keeping on the subject matter I have visited the USMC location of the barracks which was erected AFTER the United States reclaimed the island. Great work by the way!

My grandmother's uncle was a soldier in the Spanish garrison of Guam 1898, he comes from Marbella (Málaga, Spain). When I was little I heard stories about Guam and the arrivings of Northamerican one day early in the morning the US fleet appeared. After a few years he return back to Guam as a civilian emigrant, he had family there.

Oh and a video idea for you is the battle of fallen timbers in Ohio, general Anthony Wayne spent 2 years training in special Indian fighting techniques to finialy defeat Little Turtle and other chiefs who reigned over what's today Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. Some of my details might be a bit off but at an old job of mine we would reenact the battle and treaty. It's a pretty exciting story

Best way for a war to go, turn up exchange letters then meet for a conversation to settle the matter. Shame we can't have all conflicts go this well. No guns, bombs or death required just some good linguistic skills.

Sheesh! I know the multitude of moral objections to Spain's Imperial record (so don't bother castigating me,) but I can't help feeling sorry for the Spanish officials of Guam. An author of fiction couldn't devise a scenario better suited to make civil servants self-atomize under the weight of their own insignificance. If it wasn't for the Plainly Difficult standard of research accuracy...I'd call bullshit. My brain = blown.
