this is a revelation to me. i lived in san marcos for almost two years (left in late 2017), and i had no idea of this. i don’t know why i’m surprised, though, because it is texas, and those ranches deep off post road have a very eerie vibe.

also, i disagree - yes, we’ve had racism for hundreds of years, but it’s also a relatively recent phenomenon. there wasn’t racism in the year 900ce, nor was there racism before that. we can absolutely eradicate racism, but we’re not there yet, and we still have a bit of a long way to go.
