I'm trying to learn more about the history of the Old Testament, and your video is succinct and educational. I hope you have more of this type of explanation on the Old Testament books.

Do you have any questions about the book of Habakkuk?
@k2.w1244 жыл бұрын
Wowwww... I thank you for starting off the lesson with the Historical events of Habakkuk. In this Pandemic I aim at studying the books in the bible more. I just did not know how or where to start. I am a Faithful Church leader but wanted more . I figured if i tag on a Bible Study that I would learn more of the Prophets that way. I started yesterday and learn a lot from that person's group. But today i figured instead of just visiting a Prophet one day at a time, to do so for at least 3 days with different group. But yours was different you caught me up with the background of the Country and its orgin. Thank you Thank you. Be Blessed and Safe in this Pandemic.

Dear Christopher, What do you know about Habakkuk's name? What does it mean? Also, when I looked at Hab 1:5 and saw it referenced in Acts 13:41, I didn't understand what Paul means by "Beware, lest what the prophet says should come about...." What is he warning them of?
@ChristopherLScott3 жыл бұрын
Good questions, Pamela. Question 1. Habakkuk means "to embrace" or "being embraced." It kind of connects to the theme of the book: Habakkuk was connected to God and he wanted Judah to be connected to God too. Habakkuk wanted Judah to "embrace" God. Question 2. Habakkuk was prophesying to Judah about how they would be conquered by Babylon if they didn't repent and turn to God (see Habakkuk 1:6). Us, living now, too are under judgement if we don't repent and turn to God. So Paul is quoting Habakkuk 1:5 as a way to tell these people they need to turn to God just like the nation of Judah needed to turn to God. I hope these help. Thanks for watching and for keeping the discussion of Habakkuk going.

6:30 just saw this, but pastor scott says paul wrote hebrews? hebrews was written by timothy...
@ChristopherLScott3 жыл бұрын
Seamus, in the video, if you listen carefully, I say "Paul and the author of Hebrews." I do not say that Paul wrote Hebrews. We do not know who wrote Hebrews.
