I love old small communities. I happen to live in one now. The families in small communities are usually are descendants of the original settlers of these small areas. My boyfriend's family settled in this area 1885 and are still here today. Before settling here this was Cherokee land. I loved that creek running along the road...I see a creek I see a swimming hole...LOL..Lord knows when I was kid for a whole summer the creek behind my sister's house was our bathtub...God bless thanks for the ride.

It brings back such pleasant memories of my wonderful father to hear you talk about Cawood Ledford. We sat and listened when I was a little boy to WHAS out of Louisville to hear Ledford talk about Dan Issel, Louie Dampier and Goose Givens. Even though we lived in Michigan the signal was clear as a bell. Dad never lost his love for the Wildcats until the day he passed at far too young an age. Keep up the great work!

The parking lot where you turned around is the land where my Father's parents lived until they both died. Hal street. Their names are Thelma Rose and Luther Gene Lumpkins. Their daughter, my aunt, Mryna, lived with them moved to Texas afterwards and the house sold. I drove to Cawood to see the house and ask the current occupants if I could sit on the porch swing for just a minute to recapture some of the great memories I have of summers there and I found that the house had been burned down. The man across the street said it was arson on a Halloween night and that nobody was living there at the time. My brother and I spent so much time playing where that parking lot is. We played at the school play ground a lot as well when we were kids. Painful to see it all gone but I wanted to tell you that once there stood a well kept beautiful small house with a comfortable porch swing and a yard full of hummingbird feeders. They even had grapes growing on the old wire fence between their house and the neighbors. We would shoot targets and cans with a bb gun in the backyard where the yard butts up to that little hill to be safe. I miss the way my dad's car sounded pulling into the gravel drive way. Thanks for driving me up that hill again.
@IgnitedCoyote3 жыл бұрын
Your comment brought back a lot of memories to me, the place I grew up is also gone. In its place are trees and weeds and you can't even tell anyone ever lived there, but whenever I see it I still see the gardens and the house and my family on the porch. Thanks and God bless you!
