We had this film on VHS, I can’t count how many times I watched this film. I was very young back then.

I often listen to this song played on the radio years ago and now got the details of it. Thanks for the reaction, I'll look up the song to add on my playlist 👍😃 About hyper reality, sometimes unexpectedly it's real, or it can be some dejavu that became true later on. Sometimes it's sounds out of our logical mind, but it truly happens in an unbelievable way. A dream and a reality is very close. It'll come true when we've been forgetting it and when it's truly becoming a reality, it's wonderful 🌾🌺

As ever, an insightful reaction to another pivotal moment in Bollywood history. This film really epitomises that American-inspired 1980s movement of coming-of-age storytelling (à la The Breakfast Club and similar teenage films), of bringing cinema to younger audiences, of redefining youth, agency and re-imagining youthful potential beyond the confines of their parents' own experiences and expectations. And Amir Khan really was the rebellious heartthrob that captured every kids' imagination - girls wanted to date him, and boys wanted to be like him, ha ha ha. Juhi Chawla was already a known entity at the time of this movie's release, having been crowned Miss India in 1984, but not so much Amir Khan (despite previous acting credits); when the movie was being promoted, some advertising genius created a word-of-mouth campaign that crossed over to print and then TV: "Who is Amir Khan? Ask the girl next door!" So it really added this mystique and palpable tension to Khan's persona, and he has had a very successful career of portraying brooding, rebellious characters with that hint of carefully marketed vulnerability 😎 Of the film's soundtrack, I much much prefer the toe-tappingly brilliant Papa Kehte Hain (My Dad Says). The influences of 1980s pop culture can be seen much more strongly here, and the lyrics feed into the coming-of-age themes very neatly, but for all that it's just such a fun, optimistic song! This was the moment of Khan's entry in the film, with a still of him from that song on the first poster you looked at. Personally, Papa Kehte Hain should have taken the place of Aye Mere Humsafar, but I urge you to watch and decide for yourself :)

What a throwback! "Qayamat" is an Urdu word, whereas in actual Hindi it'd be "Pralay" so if Bollywood was in true Hindi the movie would be called "Pralay se Pralay tak" but thank God it wasn't ey? Because as a Pakistani I grew up listening to bollywood so learnt 90% of my Urdu from them 😂
@SauravStatingFacts2 жыл бұрын
Qayamat is Persian word

The base of Urdu is Hindi.When Mughals came to delhi they needed to communicate with locals which spoke hindi.So they mixed some words with hindi to understand them.That is why Urdu has no original scripture.It is written in Arabic.
@hellosigh2 жыл бұрын
@@johnfaith9486 you're not completely wrong here but you do need some fact checks lol, Urdu isn't "written in Arabic" per se, it's written in an adapted form of the Perso-Arabic script called Nasta'liq. Like I said Urdu is heavily influenced by Arabic, Persian and also Turkish. Tbh it's useless even arguing, Urdu and Hindi both have many similarities, the main difference is in script as Hindi is derived from Sanskrit which I am not going to understand, so if Bollywood was in shudh Hindi I probably wouldn't have watched it much growing up. The Hindi that Bollywood uses is the mutually intelligible Hindi which Urdu speakers can understand. If this wasn't the case, Bollywood wouldn't have such a massive Pakistani audience
