the scene shows she was expecting some one else in that character and seeing someone else she was shocked and stopped dancing so he said continue dancing. the play i think shows apsara name Menka(the devine dancer of swarg ,heaven of devtas the demi gods) and sage vishvamitra. she was sended by Indra the king of Demi gods to attract him with her beauty so he cannot completes his tapasya(penance) because he was going to ask for swarg for himself from God. she succeeded as per the story we heard and lived with him several years and gave birth to a daughter and went back to swarg , daughter name was Shakuntala and on her sons name India after jambu dweep name it is pronounced Bhaarat on the name of king Bharat .

Thanks to Matthew, its first time even I got to see this Vijayantimala classic song and dance piece. She is my all time favourite dancer - actress. She was a highly trained in classical dance - Bharatnatyam from South India. always very agile and graceful and it shows in all of her dance numbers. Its really surprising I never got to see this. Maybe KZbin never recommended it to me. This is the type of song that could be a favourite among very few people, especially Lata M and Vijayantimala fans, while the masses (vast majority of the people) are generally ignorant of it. Lata M's flawless rendition of this classical piece makes it extraordinary. Bollywood was so inspiring in those days!

This song has a very interesting premise. It's a two-part song that contrasts Western and Indian cultures, and by some extension, the Oriental cultures as well. Hi Matthew your understanding of Indian context is good. your reactions r also quite good. and ppl like me born in 80s/90s and even a lot of youngsters I know born around 2000s actually like these kind of songs and performances. there is indeed an evergreen value in them. Today's songs are very forgettable... have monochromatic presentation, settings & devoid of any melody and sadly completely lost roots of the inherent indianness.

it was the time we teenage were so loving this movie coz like boys and girls gets attracted to each other in their teenage time and thinking how would be their life partner like movie tells someone somewhere is made for you so this movie took us in a dream world and there was a song in which valentine's day was celebrated and that time valentine's day was very new to India and youngsters were watching this movie to celebrate valentine's day. actually married couples can celebrate each other's birthday, thier wedding anniversary, Karwa chauth in which wives shows her love for husband by fasting and praying to God for his long life but unmarried don't had anything and valentine's day gave them a reason to celebrate their relationship and spend time together. this movie gives us those past memories of our teenage time and those feelings ❤

6:49 - Well, actually this song appears 5 seconds into the film (post the opening credits song) However, there are 10 official songs on the soundtrack album, plus 4-5 additional dance-numbers / dance-moments so you're not wrong about there being plenty dancey-dancey in the middle of the film. 💚💙 For me, this was my favourite film as an 11-year old - the tagline "Someone, Somewhere, Is Made For You" was quite impactful back then... although now, several dozen partners' later it hits quite a bit different today but I still thoroughly adore this movie 🧡💛 You should react to the TEASERS of this movie to get a feel of it - back in 1997 trailers were uncommon, it was mostly a bunch of promo teasers and they are short but do a good job of presenting the vibe of the film... 💜💓 And yes it's SO HOT in LONDON right now I can't even sleep ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥
