One of the most iconic scene when the song ends where actress sitting in fuel tank I have ever scene on screen. 35mm screen were filled with this iconic scene. Goosbumps. Female singer is not much aware of English language that's why when she say we are made for each other samjhe is looking very cute.

Hi Matt, Would really appreciate your reaction to Neel Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein from the film Amrapali (1966). The story is set in ancient India, around 500 BC and is loosely based on a real life royal courtesan named Amrapali (whose story is mentioned in certain Buddhist texts). The dances performed are in the classical tradition of Bharatanatyam/Kuchipudi and a feast for the eyes. There is another song Tu Hai Mera Prem Devta from the film Kalpana (1960) which is again a superb classical dance number. Would be interesting to see your reactions to the contrast between old school Bollywood and current Bollywood. Oh, and a Happy New Year!

Dear Matthew Yes you hit the nail on it's head . The film is a modern day adaptation of Romeo and Juliet with a tragic end. It's rumoured that a very accomplished film maker advised the film director to change the end as it would bode a bad box office return. But the director refused. The film turned out to be a block buster.

This is the least interesting song in the film actually....you should react to the other songs in that same film..the music is absolutely of the highest quality... such level of music had never been attained before in Bollywood...maybe only in Satyam Shivam Sundaram a Raj Kapoor film in 1977 by the same music directors Laxmikant Pyarelal...they raised the bar to such an unprecedented level in Ek duje ke liye...there is a wonder song which has been shot entirely in a lift with both actors...never seen before in indian cinema...thanks to the genius south indian film director K.Balachander.

K Balachandar is a great director , original from Theatre . So he uses places as 'Props" . In this movie it is Goa..the Telugu Version "Maro Charitra" is Vizag - a stunning Beach at East Coast.. The Tamil movie called "Due" is filmed with Vizag as the Prop. This movie is a musical treatise on Saxophone by Kadri Goplanath playing tunes - The music is directed by A.R. Rahman.. He also uses Hill town Shimla as the Prop in some movies from beginning to end. In Tamil Movie, he has used the hill station in Western Ghats as props in a couple of movies.. The Props are not just for songs, they are part of the film, living as a spiritual background, infusing the moods.. Kamalahaasan is his prodigy and he is the one, who introduced Rajinikanth. Both are Superstars..

Nice reaction, again! I appreciate the fact that your reactions are genuine & you try to understand the story & language/cultural aspects of the song/movie! Please do react to Madhuri Dixit's '90s songs, particularly a) "Ek do teen" from Tezaab & 2) "Humko aaj kal hai inzaar" from movie Sailaab. You will fall in love with her! :) Some other suggestions Old classics from black&white era '50s & '60s. 1) Dil ka bhanwar kare pukaar 2) Accha ji main haari chalo 3) Tatbeer se bigadi hui takdeer 4) Aa ja sanam madhur chandni mein hum 5) Pyaar hua ikraar hua hai 6) Songs from cult classics movies "Pyaasa" & "Kaagaz ke phool" 7) Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya Lot's of love & good wishes from Toronto!

Love your reactions sir. Could you please check out the song “Agar Tum Saath Ho” plus the scene. If you look it up with “song + scene” you’ll find many with English subtitles. I would love to see what you think of it. It’s one of the highly revered and emotional scenes as both actors were improving. They had dated in real life years ago. The scene is beautifully acted and shot and I think you would absolutely enjoy watching it. Thank you 😊

Me too ! God does Vyjyanthimala looks otherworldly in this one 🤧💕💕💕 The way she emotes the lyrics with her facial expressions and her hand gestures and foot works on pin point with the rythmic instrument beats. At 80+ she is the oldest senior still active, dancing and promoting Bharatnatyam. What a Queen she is !

Matthew, being an Asian brit , i can tell you for sure the BBC asian network top 100 bollywood songs are not really the top 100. Let me explain, the voters were mostly stay at home folks, for example mothers and old folks that have the time to go online to vote i.e. time to do stuff like that. I doubt you will find many other category of people voted. And that is why you will find many very old songs in the list, songs most of us never heard of. Voted in by the old timers. I can tell you for sure there are 300 other songs that would blow the top 100 away ! I know what the number 1 song in the list is, and I can honestly say it is the most boring bland song you will ever hear. Even the young indians don't like it. But the old timers love it, hence why it is number 1. So the top 100 is not a true reflection of the top 100 bollywood songs. BTW have fun with reaction to these songs and DO NOT TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY. otherwise you will lose your mind. Literally. Simply because these songs cater for the Indian audience, a lot of them coming from poor backgrounds in india, so cheesiness and nonsense is acceptable. These were not meant for you and I britons. Happy new year, and hopefully I will comment again next year !
