About a month ago San Martin sent me a few watches, one of which is this 41mm bronze flieger. A very cool retro vintage design. It's reference SN0117-Q. An automatic powered by a Seiko NH35A.
Is it any good? Are there issues? Watch to find out.

San Martin has beautiful bronze watches. I own a bronze tuna and a bronze turtle. San Martin is an up-and-coming Brand.

Considering that the hands look black in most of the shots, I think black would have been the way to go. Like it's really just a stealth method of allowing the lume to make its way around the dial. I love how it all comes together most of the time, but the blue that comes out from time to time does seem like a bit much. Maybe it ends up just being a sparkle of personality that busts to the surface from time to time? Thanks for the great review.

Thanks. While I was editing the review together I noticed the older flieger I had from San Martin came with bronze-colored hands. That might of been a good choice here against the black dial.

This is definitely a homage to the Stowa 40mm Flieger. It is missing the lumed seconds hand, but they got most of the styling cues the same. Also the Stowa's bronze version is about 8x the price of SM. This may be a good option to test if your really want a bronze flieger. I personally stick with the SS version.

I wish SM would use nh38 appropriately. Its like every SM i seen had some annoying little flaw and at their prices im not accepting these flaws. On the other hand the new original design gmt is awesome. Too bad im not looking for a gmt.. Thank you for the review!

Love bronze watches, I have two now, I thought about this one but a few things have put me off, one the lume colour is too yellow and the no logo is a no no for me although I don’t like the current Sam Martin logo. Rose gold hands would have been better or even painted white hands……… I don’t know but the blue ones don’t work for me Great review though Shane 👍

The good thing about bronze is that s but of lemon juice can return the watch to its original color. This is a nice-looking piece, but I'm not a fan of the blued hands.

I'm still stuck debating between a Dekla Type-B in either 40mm or 42mm with a 7" (or just below) wrist. Given your wrist is a bit larger, what would your recommendation be? Most of my divers are 40-42mm, but I figure the all dial would wear a lot bigger.

I think I'd go with the 40. Shorter lug to lug. Plus I think you are right that with the dial, it would wear bigger.

@@RelativeTime That's my thought process as well...plus since I have to buy one without trying it on first, better it be a bit smaller than maybe I would have liked, than to be too big. Only reason I debate is because fliegers are supposed to "wear large" vs other styles of watches.

Most of the shots are done on a Lumix G85, with a few done on a Sony ZV-E10.

I'm sure it's a good watch. But I would not be able to get past how badly the yellow markings seem to clash with the bronze.

I've never warmed up to gold or rose gold, but for some reason I'm ok with Bronze.

Radium yes, but here that's just the name of the color. "Old Radium" it doesn't actually have radium in it, it's just made to have that off-yellow look like an old radium watch would.

@@RelativeTime yeah blacked out liquid crystal display with LED BACK LIGHTING. The original led watch were cool and the batteries lasted maybe 6 months and built like a tank.
