I think the biggest problem is that at Ajax Antony was collecting the ball in the final third of the pitch, where he could be effective. At united he's picking the ball up on the half-way line or deeper and being asked/expected to drag the team forward with him and/or punish teams from much deeper. He simply can't do it/isn't that player. As has been the case with united for the last decade, round pegs for square holes.

Maybe try playing a left footed player on the left wing? Worked out ok for Ryan Giggs. Being an inverted forward clearly isn’t working for him but being an “old fashioned” winger could be the answer, certainly worth a try.

I honestly wish we had Kingsley Coman all this time.... would have cost less than Antony and would probably give you 6 chances a game

Coman's injury prone tho he'd miss 80% of the games in the PL

He’s great at standing on a ball and going around and around. Skills!
@talktiger89 ай бұрын
He doesn't really carry the ball forward or dribble past players, he stops, shakes his leg then passes it. The defenders just look on like 'so what'.

I think the style of football heavily affects his game, Antony can’t play counter attack at all. He’s bad but plays much better in a pep style system
@anique_hussain9 ай бұрын
@@Photosoflifedefinitely he’s a possesion based player like sancho he would do well in a system that’s more possession based then counter attacking

Anyone playing on the right hand side suffers. Our team focus is to play down the left and basically feed rashford and praying he does something amazing. You could see in the last match that Bruno and other players were looking to get the ball to rashford ti the detriment of others in better positions. Is this ten hag tactics or poor decision making from players. Was an issue pre ETH too
@stewartcameron15168 ай бұрын
He's got this incredible spin that he does when there is no one within 5 yards of him - it's amazing, problem is it makes him dizzy and he spends the rest of the game trying to get his head right.

Antony is a shadow of the player he was before he came to Manchester United. It isn’t just because he was playing at a lower level. He was absolutely unstoppable sometimes. I’m not sure what factors caused his absolute decline but they are obviously multiple. One of the factors for sure is the toxic sarcasm of English fans when he showboated. I think he’s done here though because the psychological weight is too much now and the criticism is too heavy. I don’t read replies in case anybody has some hate stored up for anybody with a different opinion. LUHG!

Don't know what you've been watching I've seen footage of him for Ajax he was as bad there as he's been for United he's an absolute joke with a spiteful childish attitude kicking out at defenders when they take the ball off him a sending off waiting to happen 😢😢
@LABRIT-bt8mf2 ай бұрын
@@MartinCrossdale Well yes, I watched a lot of Ajax games and saw him play well, so we seem to have different perceptions. I actually like his fire though nowadays, not a lot of players have it, but also it’s the only thing I do like about him; he’s so terrible for United that I hope he can find a new club.

No right foot and Rashford's got no left foot so defenders have the advantage over both of them which explains our dismal shots on target percentage.

Signed by Arsenal in 2019 at the age of 18, not many knew the name of Martinelli, a footballer born in the city of Guarulhos whose talents had been noticed by fellow countryman Edu. The Gunners paid a mere fee of £6m

Antony’s problem is he slows down the play every time he gets the ball. I don’t think this would happen if he played on the left.
@z9zou9 ай бұрын
I think we forget sometimes that certain players ONLY excel when there is spaces in the field to play in. In the Premier League most teams close you down immediately and don't give you much space. Antony is definitely one of those players. He needs to work on his movement and find passes in short spaces. And of course let's not forget United are extremely bad at providing options with the player that is carrying the ball. Almost always you find him alone with no one giving him an option to pass, everyone is scared of the ball.
@shamone74ify9 ай бұрын
I believe he can be a potential best attacking winger if he didn't have a problem outside the field. He needs to ctrl his temper and bring his ego down. I still remember how he performed on his debut last year. Look very promising.
