Keep on innovating @Tern this is a great addition. The lower price point is a big reason many have not gone the "cargo bike" way. Thanks Propel for your, as always, clear presentation of a new bike.

Happy New Year. I want to second that the staff at your Brooklyn store are very knowledgeable and helpful. They let you try all bikes they have currently in the store for display. You really get a good idea what works best for you and your family.

Everyone should have a Tern!!! 🤣 When I started looking at folding bikes years ago, of course the first or most famous was probably the Brompton and started watching the reviews/videos on them. Then the Dahon, Zizzo, and then the Tern. 'Terns out' (hehe, Dahon was started by the owner in California, his wife and son started Tern as an upscale version, and his brother started Zizzo as a bargain version! That is why the 3 brands all seem so similar. Tern always stood out to me as quality, but I kind of fizzled out on folding bikes b/c I was thinking that joint in the frame, mehhh...Later I started looking at eBikes and Tern has the multiple models (including their eFolder). If I were to choose a more compact bike (20" wheels) definitely Tern would be a top choice!

That cargo bike is a high-quality bargain!

For those that are curious about price and weight....a quick price shows $3800 in USA. The Tern website shows weight as 66 lbs which is much lighter than my smaller Aventon Abound which is 81 lbs. (with battery but not optional accessories)

That darn frame lock has bent some of my spokes on my Load 75. You easily forgot to unlock it, and when you disengage the stand you mess up your spokes... I stopped using the lock but only used the tether chain. That's really useful and very quick to get in and out. I combined this with a heavy Abus chain (170cm).

It’s good to see Tektro expand into derailleurs, especially into sturdier designs intended for ebike geartrains. Got to keep the older, bigger brands on their toes. Also, another nice cargo ebike from Tern!

Very good value to be sure.

Nice. I want one of those.

I would love a Tern but they don’t come with a throttle and I have a problematic leg that can give out unexpectedly so I could get stuck miles from home.

The children are old enough to ride their own bikes.

Not always practical or safe. In NYC, I wouldn't let my kids ride unless they are over 15.

I call bullshit on 1:19 the centre of gravity will be determined by rider, cargo and battery location, not wheel size
@errornogo2 күн бұрын
what do you think the cargo sits ontop of?
@markifi2 күн бұрын
that's not the gotcha question you may think it is@@errornogo the ginkgo cargo has one of the lowest platform height, therefore low centre of gravity, and it uses road bike wheels front and rear
@baddriversofcolga2 күн бұрын
On a traditional cargo bike the wheel size does make a difference. On weird bikes like the GinkGo, sure, it's not based on the wheel size, but the design also doesn't let you carry passengers.
@lighthunter1980Күн бұрын
Due to the smaller wheels, the rear rack is lower, hence the lower center of gravity if compared to another bike with bigger wheels. It's really not a big secret and the reason why most cargo bikes have small wheels. Your Ginkgo example is true but it doesn't make the argument in the video false.
