Thanks for the review - I am usually not interested in repeat/ratchet type features but the ability to change velocity reduced the usual overly mechanical sound that does not really suit my taste. I agree that changing the division without menu diving would be useful. I also wonder if some basic DAW control buttons could be nice to have. Good price though! Nice to see a new (to me) manufacturer coming up with something interesting

Yeah I first saw the XJAM on Superbooth 2023 and was super surprised it was from ESI....I had the Wamirack 24 ages ago and it was awesome, so I just had to check in to the "ESI tent" to see what was new. And I was intrigued by the sweet formfactor of the XJam for finger drumming and quick midi control. I have a long background in drumming so I love these things. Regarding DAW control buttons; I rarely use transport buttons on any of my midi devices so to me it's not important. Though I see the point since the form factor makes it sweet as a control unit to have in a song booth, though it's not bluetooth. ...My computer keyboard is bluetooth so that's my transport control device wherever I am around the studio. It has infinite (almost) daw control buttons already available. 😂😋

I must say, the pads are fantastic. But the knobs are terrible for doing filter sweeps

Yeah the pads is what shines on the XJAM. Its a bit of a learning curve to work the knobs since its dependant on your turning speed 😄

Can you set up several pages (scenes or templates maybe) of configurations with separate midi channels, note values and cc values to send out to different devices without going to the editor for each change?

Yes the XJAM has several scenes / pages for different settings / setups.
