It had a cheap yak for six years, I finally found what fits my style of fishing in Texas and Florida. The trolling motor is the best option I've purchased!!!!! That thing is awesome.

I started kayak fishing in southern california about 17 years ago. I did it simple for a while, just a rod or two, a couple of tackle trays, and paddle out to the kelp. but invariably you start buying all kinds of things and next thing you know it's a major production. good video to remind us that it's the simplicity that is best.
@MDLRFishing14 күн бұрын
I think we all go through that phase, at some point it's good to go back to basics.

Skinny water paddle boats....man that brings back memories. Still the best flats boats you can use in my opinion. Paddle craft are just so much more efficient in shallow marsh settings, and more quiet due to the hull shape. Love those narrow platforms, especially in the 16' variety. We use to stand up and pole all over back lakes south of the Christmas Bay area back when I had a good back, lol.
@MDLRFishing14 күн бұрын
Totally agree, standing and poling in shallow water is the best.

Would you ever recommend going back there on an inflatable like bote or similar, for us that don't have the room to store a big plastic boat. Love the vids keep em coming.
@MDLRFishing14 күн бұрын
Would be interesting to see if anyone out there that does it. My main concern is the razor sharp oyster during low water conditions. If I ever have a chance to review an inflatable, I’ll jump right on it.
@bleedthemachineband14 күн бұрын
I do it all the time on my inflatable paddle board. Never had an issue. Just but extra aware of water depth.
@kevinmitchell444614 күн бұрын
@@bleedthemachineband ya the oyster is my big concern, is it easy to see the oyster beds to avoid them or do they sneak up on ya. I was thinking too, with some that are peddle drive just keep the drive down so you have to stay in at least that deep of water.
@bleedthemachineband14 күн бұрын
@@kevinmitchell4446 I've actually raked against them several times and never had a problem. Of course I try to avoid it but the inflatable material seems to have a little bit of give to keep it from biting and cutting. Everyone's results May vary but I've been doing it for about 3 years now with no problem. The only issue I have using an inflatable really is the wind tends to push you around a lot more so you get pushed off spots a lot faster than a traditional kayak or paddle board.

Hello Mark, Thanks for sharing your adventures. I am at the end of my fluorocarbon leader material, and I was wondering, in your products listing, you recommend Seaguar InvizX Freshwater 12# but state you're using 20#... also is the reason you're using freshwater version because it's more pliable but still abrasion resistant.
@MDLRFishing13 күн бұрын
I’ve used 8, 10, 12, 15, and 20 lb. The invizx fluorocarbon fishing line is very durable. I don’t see any issues with it that makes me want to switch to actual leader line. There’s a lot more bang for my buck using the invizx.
