If you walk more far and ckeck opposite street.on corner shop change rate now 43 lira for 1pound..just about 300-400 meters. Bim and Migros shopping centre very good prices. And yes avoid beach shop/restaurants

Thanks for info. Mulling over a week in Antalya/Alanya in Sept/Oct. Doesn't sound as safe as Thailand though. I used my HSBC Global Travel card & didn't get charged at the Halk atm, Istanbul.

At the bus station there are many kiosks. It is possible online but I do not recommend it for foreigners in Turkey.
