Also grabbing the collar if it has one and twisting will stop it from breathing enough to let go and as long as it doesn't break off!

Wow. I'm not afraid of big dogs so I would not hesitate to jump in and that situation but I don't think I could have choked the dog out. I know it's not necessarily about strength but about pressure and I honestly have no idea how to do that. But good on him for getting involved.

It absolutely does have to do with strength! Because if you're choke hold is not strong enough to render that dog motionless, as the man in the video did, then you'll only provoke the dog to become more aggressive and start shaking his head, causing much more severe damage to the already injured woman's leg. BTW, you must also be strong if you put a person in a choke hold, because they'll start fighting you with everything they got, in order to get some air.

@@ladyhellfire75 Angles & pressure points???? A choke hold has nothing to do with pressure points. Pressure points involve hitting a specific nerve or group of nerves to relieve pain or to cause temporary and partial or total paralysis. Where as, a choke hold is preformed to render someone harmless by leaving them unconscious (or a dog), and it simply involves placing your forearm across the throat and applying enough force to cut off the windpipe, a.k.a. the trachea, and it's "night night"! I am U.S. Army military trained in hand to hand combat. And I have successfully executed choke holds on several occasion, without injury to myself nor my adversary.

I always pulled mine off another dog in a pinch by grabbing his/ her collar and the rear flank lifting up the back legs. It works depending on if the other dog flees or wants to continue fighting. Brave guy for stepping in.

The problem with that technique is when the dog has his jaws clamped onto a human being, pulling their collar could increase or worsen injuries to the person, and grabbing the back legs and lifting up breeds such as bull dogs, or pit bulls can provoke them to be more aggressive, and start shaking their heads, and again, increasing a person's injuries. I witnessed a friends pit bull lock onto his neighbor's husky by the throat, 4 groan men couldn't separate them, 2 men pulling and lifting up on the pit's hind legs (1 guy on each legs), me pulling on the husky, and the pit's owner yelling at him to stop and kicking his dog in the head to no avail. Finally my friend ran and grabbed the garden hose with the water nozzle on full blast, he started forcing the hose into the corner of his dog's mouth and spraying water directly up his dog's nose, causing him to gag and cough up water after releasing the husky. In all, it only lasted a minute or two, but it was extremely violent. Thankfully the husky's thick coat helped, and it made a full recovery. I'm not sure of the best method to separate a dog that's latched on to another dog, perhaps, pepper spray, or cutting off the dog's airway as the man did, or maybe put a stick or screwdriver under it's collar and twisting it like a Tourniquet. Personally, I love dogs! But if one was attacking an innocent person, I'd have to kill it, in order to save the person. BUT, IF A DOG IS LATCHED ON TO A PERSON, I DO NOT RECOMMEND PULLING ON THE COLLAR, OR LIFTING UP ON THE HIND LEGS.

That is what you do if you can. Take a choke hold on the dog and press as hard as you can. If it can't breathe it cant bite down

Can confirm my boy would definitely bite a person before a dog. Gotta keep them contained. I see a relative or two in those pedigrees

Er hätte ihn erwürgen sollen, das große Problem ist dass speziell dieser Hund die Hemmschwelle überschritten hat, ab jetzt wird er viel schneller und bei geringerem Anlass zubeissen. Eine Gefahr für alles und jeden, solche Exemplare müssen aussortiert werden.

With the exception of dogs who are defending themselves or their families, I think any dog that bites a person without just cause needs to be euthanized. I love dogs! However, if I witnessed a dog aggressively attack and lock onto an innocent person, I wouldn't hesitate to kill it.

Lift up from the back legs

You can get behind the dog and grab it by the back legs and lift its back end off the ground. Hold til it lets go. If it's a male dog grab its "nuts" and squeeze til it lets go. Using this technique continue to hold the back legs so you don't get bit.
