I wasn't going to upload this, but was surprised at the number of dog park visitors that didn't know a couple of tips.
1. Don't bring an overly excited or overly insecure dog into the park on a leash, they either become territorial and don't want any dogs to approach you or fearful and the dogs in the park respond incorrectly to it.
2. A really effective method to disengage two dogs in a fight is the wheelbarrow method, grab both their hind legs and lift at the same time moving backwards. Don't hurt their legs just be firm. kicking hitting and putting yourself in between them gets you possibly bit. I would recommend doing it to both dogs if possible to keep them from reengaging. However in this fight doing just the ABD ended the issue. I would also add, choking the aggressor out with their collar or a leash is the next step.

The wheelbarrow doesn’t always work just so people are aware … I helped a lady at the park when her dog was attacked by someone else’s totally unprovoked because the dog was reactive and quite dominant towards other dogs… had been in a few fights … I had to put the dog in a choke hold before it would let go her her dog while the owners of the aggressive dog really did nothing and didn’t even reprimand their dog… honestly some dogs shouldn’t go to dog parks if they act like this there is no excuse for it…dog doesn’t have tolerance towards other dogs don’t go to the park and put others at risk simple…

additionally, with a bull type, pulling it away like that only makes the changes of really damaging the other more, is even bigger. you the wheelbarrow with any breed of dogs, except.... bull types. for bull types you use a breaking stick. so in this specific case, not the best advice. if you don't have breaking stick with you, you use the choking technique for a bull type

It is an "American Bulldog" which is different a different bread from Bulldog. Pitbulls are not really an official breed. American Bulldog and Staffordshire Bull Terrie are referred to a Pitbull because they are very alike in appearance and often mixed. The Stafford was developed with and Terries as they are very aggressive fighters in temperament but also slightly smaller than American Bulldog. Also a lot of mixing of the two has happened to get larger Stafford especially for the purpose of dog fighting. A few decadess later and the common Pitbull has come into being thought not an official breed. - The dog in the video is appears to be an American Bulldog and not mixed.

Respect for staying calm and directing the owners on how to break up the dogs. It never ceases to amaze me that dog owners neglect to learn how to break up fights. The staggering majority of fights I've witnessed involve pit bulls/staffys/mix of those breeds. I have recurring anxiety dreams about not being able to get to a dog fight fast enough to stop catastrophic damage. It's heartening to see someone actually being proactive and sharing knowledge. Thanks!

I won't be taking my dog to a dog park again after what happened this morning. I have mixed feelings about it anyway and usually don't go in there, unless it's empty, or there are only small dogs in there. I had just entered the park with my 5 year old Frenchie, we were going to the water fountain to get a drink before going home. A couple entered the other end with 3 medium size dogs, all different breeds and immediately let them all off their leads. They ran around with each other for a few seconds, then as soon as they saw us, they all bolted as a pack and started trying to attack my dog. I tried to pick him up, but he's heavy and I'm small and I was dragged down to the ground by the dogs. I tried to fight them off, one of them had my dog's back in his jaws and wouldn't let go, I was hitting it in the head and screaming at it until the owners made it across the park and managed to pull them off. It was obvious that they had no training and were completely out of control. Miraculously my dog only lost a few chunks of hair, and got a couple of minor scratches and didn't seem too traumatized by it. I wasn't bitten, but messed my knees up on the gravel. I learned through the brief conversation with the man that the woman, the owner of the dogs knew they were aggressive because he said that usually she is careful about letting them out around other dogs, he said she probably didn't see you. My dog is a solid boy, even though he's small, if that had been a tiny dog or a puppy, it would have been killed. I don't understand why people with aggressive dogs take them out in public and risk the safety of people and other dogs, let alone let them loose in a public place. I was badly traumatized by the incident, it's ruined my ability to go out for a relaxing walk with my dog now, I will always be on the look out for dangerous dogs now, that's when I venture out again. I didn't watch the video, just the first part.

I have two Dachshund minis and personally, I’ve only taken them into the dog park when there aren’t any dogs around. My dogs are sweet and aren’t reactive. One loves to meet the big dogs and the other is very shy around any sized dog. Although I want them to enjoy themselves, I’d rather not take the risk of them being attacked. Also, I feel like you get a feel of your dog’s reaction when you take them on walks. If you know your dog reacts to certain things like other dogs…then don’t take them to a dog park. If you are trying to get them adjusted to being around other dogs then have them trained properly/safely.

Never ever ever do you try to pull two dogs apart when one has attached itself to the other. All you're doing is putting more tension on the bite and increase the potential for injury if the dog starts to thrash. What you focus on is opening the jaws while keeping both dogs as immobilized as possible. Always keep a bottle of water on you. Pour it down the aggressors throat, he will let go when he feels like he's drowning. Harmless, quick and effective.

(but who could have forseen this you ask? well dogs having a quarrel is nothing new and with a bull type the consequences are bigger. we all know that. so yes, you could have forseen this) (you have a bull type and don't know what a breaking stick is nor how to use it? shame on you. use google/youtube) what i like about this specific dogpark: - it's relatively big - there's trees in the middle that provide some shades - high fences what i don't like: - the 2-feeters are mostly standing still. standig still (freezing) is what a dog does before an attack on either prey or a dog it doesn't like. so when your standing still your sending out a bad signal - the 2-feeters are often staring the dogs right in the face (agression behaviour in dog language (oh, you did not know that? brush up on your dog knowledge!)) - there are benches which 2-feeters have a tendancy to sit (still) on and that in itself increases resource protection behaviour in many dogs in the modern world there is no need for bull type dogs, when.... (wait for it!) ...... you take in consideration what they were made for. but that goes for many dog breeds

So i feel like i have to take him to run and romp with a group of dogs every once in a while because hes used to it. Thankfully the dog park i go to has never had a fight (ive been going for 6 months) and he gets to see alot of old pals from the rescue! Still makes me super nervous though. When i adopt a dog in the future i will stick to private off leash trails but as of now my current dog park adores the dog park.

Full grown dogs are highly unlikely to pick up illnesses from other dogs, unless they are in a kennel or vet office. Never bring a puppy to a dog park though, or anywhere really, unless you want them to be ill. Dog parks are notorious for worms though, so it's good to keep a worming schedule. There is the rare occurrence of distemper or bordetella, but its more likely at the other places I mentioned.

We have to move them off of our king sized bed to the cool wood floors to go to bed…lol. Cats also go running to check out any fighting among other cats. I have quite a few and it’s enlightening to watch the social structure within a clowder of cats. Same with our dogs. The pack may have disagreements but the great majority are just not looking to fight. They always go back to the same pecking order. Thank you for sharing your video.

Pitbulls for ya, they rank the highest out of ALL the dog breeds for bites, attacks, and deaths. They're literally bred to be aggressive, stubborn, and to fight!! Such an unpredictable and high risk breed to own and be around, they're not worth putting others, their pets, and your own safety and lives at risk of being harmed, attacked, and or killed! There's been so many cases where they turned on their owners, others people's pets, and even children! Pitbulls should honestly be band and against the law to own! Blame the breed and also blame the owner for not doing research behind what Pitbulls are actually bred for originally, their unpredictable temperament, what they're well known for (bites, attacks, and killing people's pets and even people/children), and blame them for not properly training such a high risk breed!

@@dodieschmidt8039 Statistics show that the highest dog attacks by breed are from Pit Bulls. Their natural aggression, unpredictability, and high provocation rate cause Pit Bulls to have the highest attack and fatality rate in the United States when compared to other dog breeds! Some data even suggests that pit bulls make up only 6% of the population of dogs in the United States, but are responsible for 68% of dog bite attacks. Another report from the CDC on dog-bite fatalities concluded that pit bull bites are responsible for more fatalities than any other dog breed. They're on the top 10 most dangerous dog breeds and probably the most notorious breed on this list, the pit bull has a reputation for unpredictability and aggression, even against its owner or his family!!! Pitbull's are responsible for the vast majority of fatalities associated with dog bites. From 2010 to June 2021, there were 430 bites, with 185 of those being fatal coming from Pitbulls, and another 41 that were Pitull mixes. Pitbulls are 2.5x more likely to bite in multiple anatomical locations than any other breed. Pitbulls are responsible for 60% of all injuries and 63% of ocular injuries. Pitbull terriers are 31% more likely to attack an unknown individual than any other breed. Pitbull terriers are 48% more likely to attack without provocation than any other breed. Pitbull attacks have higher morbidity rates, higher hospital charges, and a higher risk of death than attacks by any other breed. During 2005-2017, pit bulls killed one citizen every 16.7 days, totaling up to 284 Americans. From 2005 to 2017, Pitbull mixed breeds and Pitbull attacks contributed to 76% of dog bite deaths. I’m 70 years old. Despite the fact that this dog park seems to be more orderly than some I THINK DOG PARKS ARE THE DUMBEST IDEA IVE EVER HEARD OF. They forget that dogs are hierarchal pack animals and letting them run leash less only increases the tendency to fight for placement in the pack. I’ve had 9 HUGE breeds in my 70 years and never been to a dog park where aggression isn’t escalated by putting them together in mass with a boundary around them. It increases pack and placement mentality and the chances of fighting. Worse yet is the Starbucks drinking, Kumbaya owner, who’d rather socialize than watch their dog. This fight was avoidable. And listen to the dialogue between the owners making nice to each other after a possible tragic incident. Y’all ought to be ashamed of yourselves. My dogs were huge and just their size would precipitate a challenge by some little pos dog with an ex hippie owner. Sorry to be critical but if you care about your dog, play fetch with it somewhere. Also the “ no leash” rules only makes it harder to gain fast control of your dog in the event of aggression. Look many of the owners are SITTING ON A BENCH AND MANY DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE YOUR DOGS ARE. NUTS. MY OLD ENGLISH BULLDOG ALMOST KILLED AN AMERICAN BULLDOG AFTER BEING BULLIED. THAT WAS THE LAST TIME FOR A DOG PARK FOR ME.

The best & only really effective way of separating a dog with a grip on another dog is to restrict its air supply by pulling up on it's collar.. Or if it's a pit ( break sticks) you do not pet, pat, or stroke your dog whilst its fighting another dog that in many, many cases encourages the aggression.. & owners & trainers of protection dogs stroke & pet the dogs whilst biting a sleeve or suit to encourage the dogs behaviour..

This can be confused for praise actually and only make the situation worse. Second of all, if your dog is mouthy or mouthier than it should be with dogs muzzle it or stay the hell out of the dog park. This is why I do NOT take my dogs to the dog parks any more. too many negligent owners who literally have no control over their dog(s)

I just see a bunch of people who don't even understand their own dog AND other's dogs behaviors. Your dog even go to the fight and you don't do anything to get him/her off of the way ... Those parks are a serious mess.

I had a pitbull that I thought I did everything right but he was just never dog friendly. Some dogs you just can’t take to the dog park.

I get and fully support banning dog parks. Too many untrained dogs, neutering doesn't solve misbehavior. Potential risk of dog diseases spreading. Dog injuries and human injuries.

Heard a squeaky toy prior to the incident. Not sure if involved, but don't bring toys to a dog park.

And also…WTF??? People rushing to put their dogs collars BACK ON???? This is incredibly disturbing to me that anyone would think this is a good idea or a safe situation for your loved pets. People are so dumb sometimes. So. Dumb. This is infuriating.

Wouldn’t the collar provide a layer of protection?? My dogs collar is what saved her when a pit went after her - at her throat!

So the camera man knows how to make the bulldog release but takes his sweet time getting over to the fight.. in the mean time the white dog being attacked is getting more skinned ripped off... this was a giant group of incompetent people. Grab the collar of the aggressive dog, pull straight up, and twist until he releases. This is pathetic reaction from everyone. Dude with the camera was only worried about his dog."Grab his back leg?" So he can rip off the skin he already had in his mouth with the aid of 2 humans pulling even harder?

Just shows you how unpredictable this horrible breed is. Hearing that poor dog screaming in pain made me feel sick. My beautiful girl was killed by my neighbors dog in front of me. I tried everything to get the dog off my girl but i couldn't. She died of her injuries. These people are plain stupid, after the dog fight they allow their dogs to stay off the leads , obviously no common sence. I keep my new dog away from parks and lots of dogs especially bully breeds .

What do you the owner think should happen to you that cause this problem in a public park ? 1 should you be charged ? Should you and your dog be band for walking your dog in a public area ? Or should your dog be taken away and be put down ? Since you had no concerns about people safety at all . .

Dog parks are well intentioned but are a failure in design and acceptance. They are vastly open with mostly untrained and unsupervised dogs. They are much faster then humans and can be challenging to get a dog in control especially when it or another one loses it. Most owners can be delirious to a dog's body language and are sometimes unaware of their lack of supervision and inexperience with strong guard dog breeds waiting to unleash its dominance on a unsuspecting, submissive or passive dog. Its probably best to go to a park with less traffic, mature and well trained dogs or where you can be practically alone and not worry about being in a prison yard for dogs.

She attacked because they were aggressively chasing at her and sniffing her. She was giving them all the signs. Not her fault at all.

Even in dog parks dogs should be on leaches. This is why dog parks are a big no no. People who frequent these parks are irresponsible dog owners. They bring their unsocialized dogs to parks . Definitely a death warrant for unlucky dogs. You notice how it's a joke to them that the pit had blood all over it's face. I personally will not take my pup to a dog park.

That's why dog parks are horrible. You never know what's going on with someone else's dog or what diseases that dog could spread to your dog, or if that dog is properly cared for. Hence dog attacks

Pitbulls should not be allowed in dog parks, unless the owners want a lawsuit on their hands.
