Yeah, mechanical drives are not made for the kind of vibration that being on a bike can produce. For cheap and dirty storage, flash drives are the go-to, but external SSDs are getting much cheaper now. Subbed to the channel, very interested in an overview of your trip. I am planning something similar for next year and would love to hear if there was anything you'd change or do differently to make the trip easier or more comfortable.

The hawk is air cooled so its probably not good to idle it to long like that
