Tennessean here.....first time ever even hearing about Dyer's and the deep fried burger....One more fact that proves to me that western Tn and Eastern TN are completely different worlds lol (I'm in Chattanooga). this is not the first time I've found something in TN that I had never heard of, even after living here off and on for 26 years
@sleepyheadbeats43525 жыл бұрын
I'm from West TN and im actually from a place called "Dyersburg" so whenever I first visited beale st. in Memphis I naturally gravitated towards the place called "Dyers Burgers" when I was super hungry haha. I honestly didn't know it was deep fried but I did hear the legend of the 100 year old grease. Its definitely super good and the milkshakes are great too. So yea, Tennessee is definitely a long state that changes the farther east/west you go with geography and culture. I went to school at MTSU so I love middle and east TN too :}

2:45 Same with sourdough for bread. Very common that the dough is passed on for generations. In elementary school we visited a famous windmill in my town that bakes pumpernickel and the baker said they toss old loafes in every new batch they make. So you basicly eat pieces of bread that were made centuries ago. Love the idea of making new things by using old stuff. A piece of history in every bite!

[SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] I thought we were having steamed clams. [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] No, no, I said steamed hams. That's what I call hamburgers. [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] You call hamburgers steamed hams? [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] Yeees. It's a regional dialect. [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] Uh-huh. What region? [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] Uhhh-pstate New York? [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] Really? Well, I'm from Utica and I've never heard anyone use the phrase steamed hams. [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] Oh, not in Utica, no, it's an Albany expression. [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] I see. You know, these hamburgers are quite similar to the ones they have at Krusty Burger. [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] Oh ho ho ho nooo T. Patented Skinner Burgers. Old family recipe. [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] For steamed hams? [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] Yes [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] Yes. You call them steamed hams, despite the fact that they are obviously grilled. [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] Y-- You know th-- One thing I sh-- 'Scuse me for one second... [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] Of course. (Principal Skinner leaves the table and opens the kitchen door walking inside. As the door swings open, it is clear that the kitchen is on fire. He walks back out and yawns) [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] Well, that was wonderful. Good time was had by all. I'm pooped. [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] Yes, I should be g--- (Superintendent Chalmers notices the fire through the swinging kitchen door) [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] GOOD LORD! What is happening in there? [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] Aurora Borealis... [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] A---Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen? [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] Yes. [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] May I see it? [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] No. (Principal Skinner leads Superintendent Chalmers outside) [SKINNER'S MOTHER] Seymour! The house is on fire! [PRINCIPAL SKINNER] No, mother, it's just the Northern Lights. [SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS] Well, Seymour. You are an odd fellow, but I must say - you steam a good ham. (Superintendent Chalmers starts to walk away. Principal Skinner stands in front of his burning house) [SKINNER'S MOTHER] Heeeeelp! HEEEEEEEELP!!!

Yea, the show is slowly growing on me, but I'd have definitely preferred another host like George Motz. This guy turned me off from the first video I saw with him on this channel (pre-Burger Show) covering his pretentious egg bullshit and how vacuous his comments usually are while trying to sound deep and meaningful, lol. I dunno, he's probably a fine guy but his personality just irks me sometimes. It doesn't help that I think his Eggslut chain is overpriced and overrated too, as well as how pretentiously he attempted to describe and defend that overpriced restaurant chain in that first video he appeared. I'm fine with there being expensive places for *any* type of food if people so choose to want to spend their money, but the way he just went on about it like it was the "be-all, end-all" just rubbed me the wrong way a bit... Food is subjective, at the end of the day.

From UK and I love finding out about different types of burgers like this. Excellent video. In the UK (and I'm sure in the US) in the last 10-15 years there has been a lot of burger chains popping up focusing on "Gourmet" burgers, so probably most famously GBK (Gourmet Burger Kitchen) where they add all sorts of weird and fillings. I was into it way back when, but now I'm back to the basics - smashed seasoned meat, cheese, ketchup, yellow mustard, pickles and onions (raw or fried - in many ways I like the crunch of the raw onion) in a bun (toasted on the inside preferable) nothing else required (apart from good fries perhaps :) ) Therefore, totally agree with the point he makes at 10:33... ps subscribed!

I have the same preference and I think you'll love the Oklahoma Burger for the same reasons You get some deeply fried bits of onion mixed with almost raw bits of onion it's flavor profile is beautiful

The best trick to the steamed burger is to order it to go, leave it wrapped in the container for 15 to 20 minutes. 1. The cheese is molten lava, but 2. Letting the cheese congeal for me kicked it up a notch.

They only have 1 store left, all original, cant fit more than 12 people inside, just smells of old grease and coffee. It has 1, small grill. That's it. Just burgers, chips, chili and pie ( apple, pecan or merengue), coffee or soda. Amazing!

Considering burgers are just as popular in Europe and beef renders fat, the correlation does not imply causation.

Obesity in the U.S. is due to lower prices in the U.S. that allow for larger portions at a lower cost. Its really that simple.

@astrosloths_are_go6 жыл бұрын
1. They filter it each night to remove food particulates and contaminates. 2. As the grease reduces over time, they add fresh grease. So it's not the same grease every single night, it's cycled.

It's not just his life to do with as he pleases. He has a family, friends and lives in a society where everyone carries his burden. It's egotistical to let yourself become and stay in such a bad state. It has nothing to do with fat shaming, which is something many fat people actually need to acknowledge and turn around their terrible habits, but everything to do with people caring about someone who is eating himself to death. It's not cool to be drunk. It's not cool to smoke. It's not cool to eat yourself into obesity.

He loves his superlatives and overuse of hyperbole, lol. But then again, you see that a lot these days with the younger crowd (below 40)... It's like most of my peers can't express themselves with exaggerating anymore, overusing hyperbole or using it too severely (saying "literally" for things that aren't even remotely literal, etc...) It's small things but it adds up over time across a generation. It sometimes makes having a clear conversation without people overreacting (or accusing you of it) harder and harder these days...
@misplacedcajun23256 жыл бұрын
Incredible explanation. i have noticed kids (I'm a teacher) saying "literally" constantly! Way too much over-exaggeration as well.
