Great video! I’ve been busking for 10 years, and it’s led to all sorts of gigs and engagements! You are absolutely right. But 18 months ago I took a “regular” job, I felt kind of burnt out and felt I needed a break. I’ve learnt a lot doing what I feel is a “normal job”, it’s reminded me how incredibly satisfying busking and playing gigs is. One night 6 weeks ago I was doing a night shift and was browsing you tube, I found your channel and found it so inspiring to get out there again full time, I quit my job. So from next month on, in part due to your channel and enthusiasm, I’m back in the streets! So from me, thank you! Keep up the good work 👍👍

Morning, Ben - another excellent video. I like your take on 'not focusing on the money' - that just adds to the tension and diverts your attention away from the act of creation and performance. My old boss used to have a philosophy: "Make a friend, make a difference, make some money" - meaning that if you do what you do for the right reasons (making people's lives easier/better), the money will follow. It meant that we could just focus on what we were good at and build good relationships. Super excited about the album - all the very best with it. Keep on keeping on. Cheers.

"Expect nothing, appreciate everything": So true, thank you for pointing this out again! We should all put this on the back of our cases, to read and remember it on a "bad" day out there ☀✌

I really resonated with your point that worrying too much about equipment is a form of procrastination. I felt caught out on that. I spent way too long on that. Finally, I left the house the other day and light rain stopped my first filming-busking trial. But I'll be back.

congratz on the gig! [I'm greek, you nailed pericles pronunciation haha 💪] Last busk I did, I got not even a single cent haha, but I've got some reaction on socials. Plus I did improv and wrote something at the spot for me :)

Loved this video. I’m not a busker, not even a musician, but I still feel ‘life inspired’ by you and your videos. Very excited that your album’s out now. Hope to see you out in Brighton again soon. All the best, your beach cleaning fan x

That's so good! It's exactly what happened to me when I was busking the other day. As soon as I stopped paying attention to the donations coming in, that's when they started coming in! My first night and I made $150! I'm so excited to do it again, but there's really not a lot of opportunity for it in my small town. I usually have to wait for some kind of event to happen. Much love, dude!

Just wanna say, I'm 44, schizophrenic, no job,(I volunteer at the SPCA) and I busk sometimes, I bought a bose little battery speaker the other day, I get freaked, you describe it perfectly, setting up belting songs etc, feels strange. But your infectious, great positive vibe, I'm getting positive myself here! I'm looking forward to my first go with the amp, only done unplugged so far. Thanks again for these vids!

Ben I’ve always thought this, but you’d also be a great presenter! Which makes me think with this science show, as well as your music career I could so see you as a joyful presenter on cool Tv shows: nature, cbbc, documentaries etc. You’ve got a curious vibe, like you want to learn about new subjects!

additionally to the equipment upgrade part. it also gives you confidence and accountability, which i think is worth even more than sounding better. if you buy quality gear, you'll gain a newfound intrinsic motivation to keep going out and using it. after all if you spend hundreds or thousands of [insert your currency] on gear, you sure as hell feel obligated to make it work for its price. i think not many can afford to spend a fortune on an instrument for example, just to let it stand untouched in the corner. everyone hesitates before buying quality stuff and it's because you're actually betting on your future self to be making it worth it in hindsight, otherwise it's just money down the drain... but what it gives you when you pull the trigger is confidence. if you can hear that whatever you play sound bigger, better and clearer you'll feel more confident and play better and sound even better. however, it's only above a certain threshold! i've seen so many players buying expensive stuff mindlessly and then wondering why their playing never got better. no, upgrading and investing in quality stuff is not the 2nd step or the 4th or the 27th. it's way down the road, but you'll know when you're there, but as soon as you're there don't procrastinate just do it! it'll pay out

Great video as always. Harder for me as I work so much and when get days off I’m at the council applying for permits (have to do it every month), so hardly get out busking at all. When I can I do though! And just love it just as a chance to play and sing! Normally make about €25-30 in about hour and 20 minutes. Half of that gets donated to stroke association. Only a couple things I slightly disagree with, one is the “happy smiley energy “ haha, I’m not a smiler, like Noel Gallagher I’m a sarcastic northerner, it is what it is 😂 The other is, if someone has like me a Boss Cube Street 2 and are thinking of upgrades, could try a couple of pedals? Maybe a compression pedal etc? Boss pedals can be picked up pretty cheap? I’m off Thursday and Friday so let’s see if I can get out!! Cheers man have a good one! 🎤💪🎸🍺👍

Money money money ... must be funny but I ain't laughin' 'bout it, Honey. I don't want it, but I need it. Because I can't pay my rent, with the time that I spent, playin songs I invent, with the best of intent. Still I can't make a cent ... and I need money!
