Its really interesting to see how much work you put in behind the scenes of even your short videos, we really do appreciate it! Please don't get fake grass, is awful for the planet, horrid for wildlife, not as nice for little Grey to play on and in the summer gets really warm to the touch. Just embrace nature's little imperfections and stick to turf.

Yes- it's so worth a bit of effort to maintain it, artificial grass is so unenvironmentally friendly!
@referencecorrsarchives99

It depends on the quality of it. We had very great one and it was amazing. Zéro maintenance, no dirt, you could lie on it all day. The kids were so happy to play on it , it is very soft too, we played hard on it (football, rugby, yoga, anything...) , perfect 5 years on! For me it is worth having a fake square for the kids in addition to real grass patch if you love flowers, plants etc.

Why don’t you just get rid of the rolled out grass, and grow your own? That’s what we did and it took us just a few weeks to get perfect grass. We live in South London so weather’s the same as yours. Good luck!

My parents have fake grass and it gets so hot in the summer that it burns bare feet. My kids wouldn’t walk on it unless it was wet, but then there’s no drainage and sprinklers on grass is my kids favourite outdoor activity in the summer😊

Lily you’re probably SICK of the grass comments but we live in a very hot part of Australia and my son has fake grass at his school and he is always cutting his legs up playing football on it. Just a thought, maybe you should try a landscaper who would collaborate with you to help you get your garden looking amazing, I’d love to see that! Xxx

The fake grass is awful in the summer , most of them overheat the area. Don’t know how hot are the summers in UK ,hope yours works out!

Fake grass just seems like a waste, both due to it's obvious environmental issues, but also it's long term use and comfort for kids/dogs/life in general. However, I also know that the maintenance of "manicured" grass is problematic for water usage -- the perfect green grass yard is not a naturally occurring thing after all. Perhaps there's a way to landscape, utilize native plants or similar to make it easier to manage for Rich and also easier on the environment.

Hey there lily! For grass, perhaps consider a non-grass plant like creeping thyme! They’re no-mow, hardy, and gorgeous. Not to mention very good for the environment 💛

First off, LOVED the vlog as always (love your style!). Second, totally understand the reasoning behind wanting fake grass but it so uncomfortable to walk on, play on (for little kids- if they tumble its really abrasive on the skin) and because it becomes so hot under the sun. Also, if you ever get a pet in the future it becomes really gross, really quick. My aunt and uncle got some and ripped it all up within 2 months (not to mention super bad for the environment) don't mean to be a downer but I thought I should mention my somewhat personal experience with it😅

It’s really not such a big job to level the garden! We just did it to our garden which is bigger than yours and it looks SO much better, you could just do it yourself and then re-lay turf. My husband says he’ll do yours for free if you want haha!

I respect it's your decision so no hate, but please thoroughly research the negative environmental impact of all fake grass before you make a decision (I'm sure you will, I'm more saying this for people who might not). This sounds daft but if you do decide to go with fake, maybe try not to 'advertise' your grass because that will then encourage more people to make that decision and they might not research enough so be taken in by some companies green washing.

We had lots of patches in our grass so we watered it, put down grass seed, covered it with top soil and the watered it ever 2 or 3 days and we now have a beautiful lawn. Obviously cannot do this at this time of year but next spring it will be fine, if I can do it anyone can because I am no gardener!

We 've used Green Thumb for just a few months and they are very good, we had terrible grass and it now looks amazing. It will probably take til next Spring/Summer to see an improvement now as we're going into Wnter but new turf isn't cheap! PLEASE don't get artificial turf - so bad for the environment and the eco-culture in your garden.

People tend to not cut it enough so it gets too long and then they 'scalp' it right down - that stresses it out and then the grass gets full of weeds. Cut once a week (minimum) in Summer and then scarify and aerate it in the Spring and Autumn, plus an appropriate feed, and it will stay looking good.

Loved this vlog 💖. I have ‘normal’ grass at my house but we also have a small section of fake grass because it was really awkward to mow in that area. We’ve probably had it for 4 or 5 years at least and personally the only downside is that it does get really hot in the summer but other than that mine doesn’t smell (i saw a few comments saying it does). The one thing I would say is that not all fake grass is the same, mine is very normal grass like, you cant really tell the difference except that its always perfectly short haha but some fake stuff is fake looking if you know what I mean.

Fake grass is so bad, so bad for the environment and it is hot in Summer, like you cannot walk on it barefoot and all the leaves, dirt, dust stays on it so you basically have to vaccum it to clean it, what a terrible thing overall! I had some in my old apartment and hated it! Nothing is better than natural grass or just mulch and plants, much easier to maintain and good for biodiversity!

It’s a funny one, because as someone who’s worked full time and part time I can confirm it’s more stressful (in my case) working part time, in terms of time management. Interesting seeing all the negativity about fake grass, the amount of fertilizer and water wasted to keep grass green is probably far worse than a strip of fake grass! Just a thought. I always end up letting my grass die because the guilt of just pouring water into the ground makes me feel so bad. And can’t even get started on weed killer and fertilizer it’s all so bad. Good luck to you either way 😘
