A "Butterfly" transforms into something beautiful.

TUTORIAL DESCRIPTION:
In this tutorial we are making a two fold project. Two trays in one. We first make the butterfly tray with chameleon powders and color shift glitter and backed in black resin. Then we put that into the center of a bigger tray and surrounded it with pressed dried flowers, and around the edge of the tray I mixed two of the color shift glitters and poured them together up to the base of the tray and then poured clear resin with rainbow alcohol ink mixed in. #resin #resinart

Mary! I haven't watched this video yet but you're always asking for requests so you're the first person i think of when i have an idea! I saw Tea and art just do the big skull mold and in the first layer, she did a bloom. I would really love to see you try this but with tons of layers adding white petals on the outer edges. She did it with one layer but i was thinking about how cool and 3D bloom coasters look from the side... I wonder if you did a ton of layers , even though you probably wouldn't see all of the layers from the top of the flower, would it look 3D as if a whole flower was inside? Imagine a super super thick coaster from the side...you could even start making them look smaller towards the end and add the green leaves and bud from some plastic flowers to make it REALLY look like a full flower! Is this a cool enough idea you'd be willing to try?

@@resinmeup thank you! And, yes, if you see hers you will understand what I'm talking about. I mentioned it to her too but I came straight from her video to look up your most recent so I could talk to you. I just love how cool coasters look from the side and I know you do too because you've mentioned it before. The only thing I would give you advice about is maybe making your petals a little thicker than you normally do for this project. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with how you do your blooms at all. It's just friendly advice for this particular experiment because I think thicker lines would really add to the 3D effect when trying to make it look like a full flower. Maybe you could try to make the ones in this project as thick as she usually does? Her video on it was posted yesterday I believe! ❤️

@@resinmeup I wanted to add that to make it really 3d looking, you should Judy do a middle swirl on the first layer, then 1 row of petals on the 2nd layer, then 3.... Till it's big and wide in the middle for the body of the flower until you get to the end with the bulb and leaves. I know it'd take tons of layers so it'd be time consuming but SO worth it! You could also use ANY big deep mold, even the pyramid one or something so it'd be unique to you.

Very pretty, love it but very fiddly I just don’t have that much patience. Clear would have made the butterfly into a lovely sun chime but the black brings out the colours. I’m not big on those flowers, but that’s me, I thought you were going to put them in the canal around the edge, I’d have left the inside boring clear, again just me. As I said very pretty though. I’m impressed. 🥰

Debbie, I actually used the left over clear resin I had from pouring the edge. I dipped them all in it and laid them back down. If I didn't have the left over resin I would have used UV.😊

It came out gorgeous! Love the glitter/mica split. ❤😊 As someone who is brand new to resin art, how do you know when an mold is shiny or matte, when buying online? And you can top coat in clear to make a matte project shiny? Thank you!😊😊😊😊

Debbie, thank you😊 on the molds, most molds made for resin are shiny, but if your getting a mold made for candles, fondant, some candy, not all, are matte molds. This mold happened to be both matte and shiny, which isn't unusual, sometimes when molds have a lot of detail, they will do this. Just read the description before buying, it will tell you what type of mold it is. Hope this helps😊

Stephanie, those are from the cake baking isle at hobby lobby, they are for cake popcycles. They have clear and gold. But make great stir sticks. I think there are 10 in a pack.
