Today is A.C. Reed's birthday. I have fond memories of playing music with him. An odd combination but he and I really hit it off. I love how he laughs at me after my wild solo at 5:30.

Grownman (Essex Johns) - Guitar
Jerry 'Hot Rod' DeMink - Guitar
Jeffery Labon - Bass
Sambo (Arthur Irby) - Drums
So how did a long haired white boy from San Diego end up in a band with Chicago Blues Legend A.C. Reed? Well, their van broke down in front of my house one cold late night and I helped them out. I told Grownman I was looking for a gig and he told me they needed someone. He asked "can you play?" I'm sure you could probably imagine my answer. Three weeks later I was in Chicago jumping in a van for a 3 week tour to the West coast and back. I played with A.C. for 2 1/2 years. Toured all over the U.S., Europe and recorded on his record Junk Food. That was an experience of a lifetime!
