I saw these guys quite often in the late 1960s. It was really a shame that Bo was not drawing well and generally ignored back then. As you can hear Bo was a much better guitarist than most folks realize. As a guitarist I can tell you it is not easy at all to do what he does. Playing note lines and chord leads while maintaining that rhythmic beat. You try it! Bo was a master showman. It was really a shame when he could no longer afford to keep his full review going. Folks really couldn't just sit in seats, because those guys made you dance.

It is sorry that he was one of the most underrated black musicians but he was known for playing his cigar box guitar which one of my grandson's School teachers made him when he was in fourth grade how cool is that

I had the unique opportunity to see Bo Diddley for the last time in 2005 in a park in Poughkeepsie where there was only about 300 people. Needless to say I went right up Center stage and there were two little black girls right next to me and I was singing and dancing and I told them how to dance they were only six and seven and we were rocking and he was rocking and we had a wonderful time. He did one of his classic songs I don't remember which one but the price of gas in 2005 was over $3.75 so he changed the words to reflect that in one of his classical songs. AMAZING PERFORMANCE AND AN AMAZING NIGHT

Great great stuff. How many other rock 'n rollers were putting extended jams on record in 1964? Any??

A couple of chessmen. They had albums together even though their styles were different. Bo could write pretty like Chuck. Simple melodic and fun

It's Willie Dixon's hand. If you type Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Willie Dixon and Little Richard on Google Images, the whole picture (taken from the documentary Hail Hail Rock'n'roll, celebrating Chuck's 60th anniversary) will be the first result to show up.

We all know what Chuck and Bo can do but who is this drummer?
@francisgoulet95193 жыл бұрын
This was recorded on March 26th 1964 (or in April of 1964). The drummer was most likely Billy Downing (one of Bo's drummer), but it could also have been Edell Robertson (another one of Bo's drummer during that time). The bass player was probably Jesse James Johnson, but it could also have been Chester Lindsey (both bassists worked with Bo at the time). Other musicians are Jerome Green (Bo's maracas player), an unknown tambourine player and the legendary Lafayette Leake on piano. Hope this helps.

I hear Chuck's guitar but Bo Diddley is kind of subdued in most of this. It should have been video .

I've always been a fan of Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. When this LP came out I bought a copy immediately. I was disappointed. It's just a disjointed jam session and shows neither of their talents. This is the first time I've listened to it in fifty years, and my opinion hasn't changed. Poor.
@oneminutereviews253 жыл бұрын
I Love This Groove maybe I should listen to more of both of their albums and I will appreciate them more
