friendships are often complicated. especially childhood ones. some last forever, and some you outgrow and need to let go of. have you ever had to release a friendship? and why?
@sarahw8440 Жыл бұрын
It's tough. I had a best friend from 6th grade all the way to college. She was a pastors daughter, and I just didn't believe what they did, so eventually I stopped going to church with them. Knowing her parents, they stopped letting her hang out with me for being a "bad influence", and then eventually we had a conversation about it, and it did not go over well. I moved out of state about a year after that, and looking back, I am glad it ended, but it still makes me sad. Our views are so different now, I don't even know how we were friends at all.

Yes, she had been my best friend since the year after high school. I was there for all of her milestones and I was the only friend her mother liked. She was there for the terrible physical, mental, and emotional abuse I went through with my ex husband. A few years ago she decided that it was important to her to let my ex husband back into her life and tell him every detail about me and my life, including my address and phone number. Then she started to act shady around me. It hurt but I had to drop her out of my life. I lost her and her kids but my health and safety is much more important.

I recently lost a friend and boyfriend last year around this time because they decided to sneak around behind my back. This was a friend who I confided in when I sensed my boyfriend of 2 years was drifting away from me. She listened and consoled me, but it turned out that she was the reason he decided to leave me. When I confronted them, she tried to flip the script to make it seem like I was attacking her character and she called me crazy, but I told her I wasn't the only one who noticed and figured it out. I ended up moving because of stress at home being emotionally tormented by my stepmom on a regular basis and losing this relationship and friendship at the same time was the straw that broke the camel's back. I don't mourn the loss of the friendship because she really betrayed and hurt me, but I do still miss him because he was good to me in the time we had together. 2 years may not seem like much to most people, but that was my longest relationship, so it was a lot to me.

I'm 33 and I've never had a best friend my entire life it seemed to keep friends like 2 years at a time Max but that's also cuz for the most part we've moved you know what I mean. Like my college friends are still my friends but we don't live anywhere near each other so we can't hang out. Most of the friends that I've had that have lasted longer than 5 years have been internet friends because I'm an introvert and a gamer but yeah no it's rough. but then again I don't think I've saved friends with anybody from elementary school I went to a specialty high school so it was just a bunch of really smart kids from around the state that went to that high school and then after that I went to a specialty art school and only two people from my high school went there and they weren't people I liked So😂. I do not understand the childhood friendships I would kill to have a best friend finally so that I could see that that's like but so far no Bueno

Sometime it’s good to clear out friendships that weren't really good matches-relationships we fell into by proximity only but didn't really serve us well emotionally. But friendship breakups can be as devastating-with sadness, confusion, anxiety-as a romantic one, whether that friendship died by conflict or naturally fading. Excited to hear you’re travelling to Europe soon. Enjoy and hopefully you’ll take us along.

I’m currently fighting with my best friend of 13 years. I’ve tried to keep my therapeutic mindset of how I need to handle the situation best for myself and be as communicative as possible, but it’s hard! When you want to talk something through and the other person isn’t willing it’s not you who needs to grow most of the time. I hope you have peace with the joy the friendship had like I do, and if it’s meant to continue it will!

I love that you include us in all of your things and I'm so very sorry about you and your friend. I've experienced the same and it does hurt but I felt, after a while, I was better off for it. Finding out my "friend" could flip like a switch on me for no reason was a blessing in disguise. We are still very cordial when we are in the same place at the same time but I won't ever give them the opportunity to flip on me again. Life is too short to have unpredictable friends.

It's been my experience that if you have an argument with someone (friends or family) you should give each other space to calm down but if you don't reconnect and clear the air the next day it makes it hard to get past. In terms or friends it can end your friendship and with family it can lead to several years of not speaking. It does take two though - if one person refuses to reconnect to talk it out then it's over.

Another beautiful trip, catching all the goodness of late Summer and in beautiful Montana. What on earth could you have said in two minutes that sent her over the ledge, was it about her maybe texting if she's going to be that late? Through the decades I've felt the need to move on from friendships, I still love them and want them to have a great life, we just changed or I changed. Hopefully you're friend was just embarrassed by her inattention to something that is important to you,( I've had that happen to me and the other way around, and it can sting for a bit), but we put back on our big girl pants and realize how important the friendship is. I didn't know you speak at conferences, you'd be great, and especially about skin care or design. I hope you enjoyed your trip, I know I enjoyed what you shared. Thanks for taking us along Daniel, have a safe trip home.

At the same time, I have worked at a friendship with an old college roommate for many, many years. We got together last year when I was visiting CA after not seeing each other for 10+ years. Tell you the truth, I finally realized that some friends are for other, some for a season or seasons, and some for a short time. He was really a short timer, but I tried to make it a long lasting friendship. Getting together made me see it was never meant to be and I am ok with that. Finally, after all these years!!!

Although I will always love them and would be there in a heartbeat for them no matter how much time goes by as we grow older our lives become different and what was once a perfect fit in your life (as far as friends go) it just isn't anymore. I feel like you two will eventually speak in some capacity but it may never be like it was. You Daniel are an amazing person and have a lot to offer in a friendship ( I wish I knew you on a personal level because we seem to appreciate a lot of the same things in life and would probably have a ball!) and many friends will come and go through the years, it's just life 😊❤️

😢 thank you for the scenery. What a way to reset. ❤ This made me emotional for many reasons....the hiking. I lost my sweet Gigi July 12 but for 12 months intensely for 8 months I was caring for her. As I tried to pull money together for her to get neck surgery the doctor told me to keep her out of the heat and it was clear she was becoming immobile. This was crushing to me because she has so much energy and she wanted to be herself and she's just physically couldn't do it. I miss her energy endless energy of going on hikes and walks and letting her run and she was like a little cougar or race horse. Turned out the possible bulging disc in her upper back was actually a tumor that was eating her up inside they didn't find any cancer but it was just this tumor that was crushing her spine moving towards her brain. I still have my chihuahua, Leonidas, he's older than she was. He has a normal aged & breed issues & is otherwise healthy, eager, energetic. I have a stroller for him (when he can't go anymore) so our walks are different. Of course he loves being outside. I'm very much looking forward to temps cooling down so we can have longer walks than we've been having lately. Because the heat does get to him as. I definitely have a care package in the bottom of the stroller for him - water everything he needs and I'm thinking of getting a cooling jacket. I like that you incorporated what I told you my Dad used to say and LIVE by at the end of your videos.💕👍🥰
