It would wrok in winter, people are just too used to the comforts of modern life. Nothing wrong with warmer blankets. It wouldn't work as a caravan because of the shape, it would have so much drag from the front porch bit.
@HabbeningNetNews6 жыл бұрын
Buddha Mack I'm interested in building one of these myself, seems very functional with minimal material use. Maybe use thicker canvas or quilts like in a yurt inside the wagon for colder weather?
@mheermance6 жыл бұрын
@@HabbeningNetNews In the American west shepherds lived full time in more rustic versions of these wagons. They would place wool blankets on top of the wagon, then cinch the canvas down tight. With a wood stove they would be quite warm.

I love how this tiny house design is both incredibly impractical in its super small size, low height and overarching shape yet practical enough in its other design elements that it works for the owners fundamental needs. And this design really shows the value impractical design can have in how the owner interacts with the space and structure and how the structure integrates the external environment into the space. Super great episode...

A very beautiful and well designed wagon. Pretty ingenious idea to run piping through a compost pile for hot water to use for showers! Thanks so much Bryce, take care my friend. ;)
@livingbig6 жыл бұрын
It really is. I've seen it done on a few permaculture properties and it's a great way of heating water. Witch compost getting so hot, the water coming out of it can be scalding so you have to be careful. I'd love to give this a try one day.
@atomicsmith6 жыл бұрын

@smallfootprint29616 жыл бұрын
compost piles are known to catch fire so be careful where you put them and turn them often.
@SomeoneBeginingWithI6 жыл бұрын
I knew decomposing material could get very hot, but I'd only come across it before as a problem, farmers needing to keep their straw and hay piles dry or the can burn in the fields from the heat. Large compost piles are definitely something to be careful with for that reason, but it's exciting to hear of people using that natural process to their advantage.
@ShawnVanden6 жыл бұрын
I've never really thought it would be feasible, but compost piles of any kind could become a well-spring of heat generation for communities of homes/farms or businesses in the future. Especially farms where animal waste is collected/contained. The ways in which one can recycle/re-purpose & utilize one's "waste" or "byproducts" to create something else useful could very well help us save ourselves from ourselves. Great point Charles H. !

That said, value is in the eye of the beholder, and people who'd prefer unique, quality and handmade, over flimsy and generic (caravans), would love to buy something like this ... if they have a private/secure location. We don't lock our doors here, so ...
