A walk among the beautiful bluebells in the woods below Roseberry Topping, in the North York Moors. The woods were a carpet of blue and the air was filled with garlic, from the covering of wild garlic, which shared the woods with the bluebells. A stunning and colourful 4.5 mile loop walk.

It's our favourite time of year to walk through the woodland when the bluebells are out in force! They really are a sight to behold carpeting the woodland floor🥰🌸. To be honest, I have known Mrs Metalman for 43 years, we have been married for 41 years and still after all this time, I cannot keep my hands off her 😛. Yes out with Eddie and Ashly next week and the week after too, the weather is not looking good this week so far but things change very quickly in the Lakes, so hopefully it dose and for the better too. I got a message this week from a couple of YT superstars, who are wanting to meet up first week in June, so this promised heat wave I keep hearing about better come soon. Mind you we are overnighting in Edinburgh next weekend and traditionally we always get good weather when we are up there, so that may be the start of summer hurrah! It was a brilliant morning walk and apart from us and the bluebells not a sight of anyone else, what a perfect way to start the day. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Oh my days, take all the tv channels away, when we come to settle down in front of the tv if its an Alan Metalman night it doesn’t matter if its 2019 or 2022 it never disappoints. Newton Woodand North Cliffe Wood are exactly equa-distant for us to travel to for great bluebells. We actually have a print of the bluebells at Newton Wood with Roseberry in the background in our office. It was such a close call, however we go to Roseberry a dozen times a year. Its our nearest mountain and the first we ever climbed. When you got to the wild garlic, that had us in tears, just today we were walking through some tremendous wild garlic and immediately i was hungry, “Whats for tea tonight Jill?” And im happy to report she knew i wanted a big portion of garlic and the tea did not disappoint. The garlic this year is so on point as are Jills dinners! The teleportation? Its very questionable, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, it did land us in bother on a couple of occasions! 😂 Oh no no no. you were doing so well. Paying for parking? Thats a big no no. My blood pressure is through the roof now Alan! There is a free layby just a 100 metres east of the main pay car park and if that is full all of Great Ayton is free parking and its less than a mile from that lovely bluebell wood. Great Ayton also had some great pie shops, pubs and an awesome fish and chip shop. You redeemed yourself on the kissing gate though, that is a +10 from us! Looking forward to the bluebells in Buttermere, that will be incredible! Yay, the teleporting worked. It does take a few attempts! Those bluebells are lovely, we will definitely cover those next year in that spot! Incredible video! Full marks 👍

Haha, the car park used to be National Trust, so I parked up all smug and went to get my free ticket to find it is not NT anymore so had to pay, dam! The smell of the garlic was driving me mad all morning, so we had a stop off at my favourite fish n chips shop at Stokesley on the way back, which caused us to be 15 minutes late back and Mrs Metalmans 'big shop' delivery was waiting for us when we got back - driver not happy lol. The Rannerdale Knotts bluebells looked like they just going over but still very nice to see and I ended up getting sunburnt at the end of the day, after day up Whiteless Pike - no chance of sunburn today! Now i have tried fish and chips from Stokesley once and they were quite nice, to my mind there are two chippys there so maybe I tried the wrong one. Aytons fish and chip shop in Great Ayton though is a wonderful chippy. It’s definitely where you need to be picking up free parking and the village square and stream that runs through is an ideal spot to consume them at the start or end of a hike! Wow, those flowers are really popping! Garlic is my fav - I don't think I could stand walking through it naturally - I would want to pick and eat it all! The flies look wild there today. So beautiful! We have something similar here in Alberta, but they are purple and pink lupins. They grow in the mountains. I have always wanted to stop alongside the highway to take a hike in the lupins, but usually by that point in the drive, Joey just wants to get to where we are going, and he never wants to stop. Brilliant Alan i loved this walk to Roseberry topping to see the bluebells, they were beautiful , it did look like a steep climb that you and Mrs M the machine did hehe. So you had wild garlic there that would have gone perfect with the BBQ chicken pizza you had 😃 Great that you ended up in shorts and tshirts, we've had it hot in North Wales recently too, but not good having all of the flies to contend with. Loved the kissing at the kissing gate awww ❤️ you won't lose 10 subscribers for that 😄 and nice that you could get your fitness levels up ready to meet with your mates next week. He was waiting for us when we got back lol! The smell of that garlic was too much for me and as my favourite fish n chip shop was only 5 miles away, we stopped there on the way back. I have been climbing Roseberry Topping since I was a kid but never walked through the woods before, which is a shame as they were great and so colourful at this time of the year, so will be back at the woods in the future no doubt about that. Oh that's a canny pull mind, I did that walk about 18 months ago on a real warm day and it is a slog going up and an awful shale decent down off High Style! Unsure if you saw my video but I ran out of water two thirds of the way around (schoolboy error) but there is a path down which I think I missed, hopefully you find it. We found the steps coming down High Crag but they were so slippery. Fell on my ass numerous times. I need a big rest now!!
