Hi Alan, this was such an enjoyable video! Castle Howard is on my bucket list and to see it decked out so splendidly and imaginatively was a pure joy! That tree was massive! What an amazing spectacle. I don't like queuing up at all but it would be worth it to see all those fabulous decorations in such a wonderful setting. Thank you and best wishes to you both ❤❤

Another revisit to try again with our comment! Easy to see why this is one of yours and Mrs metalmans favourite walks. Really beautiful scenery and flat easy walking. Perfect for a relaxed day, enjoying each other's company, and having a chat along the way. Sometimes, they are the best kind of days 🥰. We were unaware of a problem with our comments dissappearing around this time😔. So popping back for a quick recap. We loved this video Alan, the Langdale valley has to be one of our favourite places in the lake district, absolutely stunning. Glad you finally made it up there👍. This looked like a very challenging but super rewarding hike. Involved and technically route, langdale certainly kept you on your toes. Bet it was a relief to get back down. That £8.50 would've just about got you a pint at the stickle barn pub had you have known about the car park😂🙈🍻. One for next time! As once you visit Langdale, you always return ❤. Hi Alan, Well this was a lovely pre Christmas treat! We watched last night on the telly. What a beautiful place Castle Howard is, with so much history. The Alice in wonderland Christmas display looked absolutely magical! Looks like a wonderful day out was had by you and Mrs metalman. A bit on the pricey side, especially the gift shop 😮😂🐇. It's a place we have been going to visit for years, so the perfect opportunity when I saw this advertised and real pleased we did go too we both loved it. We sure were late to the party and after trying almost every fish shop in Whitby, as soon as we tried Mr Chips we both knew this was the one. I heard they do a mean chicken parmo as well, another excuse to go back ASAP :o). We have said we were going for years and years but one of those things that just did not happen but as soon as I saw the tickets for the Alice in Wonderland, I booked them straight away. Wow, what a place! What a TREE!!!😮 Magical!! That’s the thing with this kind of event, you can’t quite get a look at the “bones” of the venue behind the decor and hordes of folks, so you do have to go back! We felt this way after attending a fabulous Halloween event at Muncaster Castle. It was such fun being grabbed by giant eyeball characters in the haunted woods and stuff but we had to go back another time to see the castle and gardens properly 😂😂

@@LouciferFlump - I would love to visit Muncaster Castle, seen it on the TV before and it looks amazing. Are you allowed to walk around there yourself at your own pace or is it part of a guided tour? @ when we went, you could totally just look round it. The gardens are astonishingly beautiful too. There may be a guided tour 🤔but generally I avoid those coz I want to look at what I want to look at! 😉

So good that you both got to attend this event seeing as though you hadn't attended one of these events before. The castle looked beautiful, no wonder so much has been filmed here. Loved all of the beautifully lit up rooms, they did a really good job with the decor, it looked really Christmassy with so many trees and a chance to dress up 😃 The shop with all of the merchandise was great too, the kids would definitely love it and I agree that Castle Howard is a must see for anyone in the area and its good that there is a land train for anyone who can't or don't want to walk. Shame about the fire but it looks like they're doing great work in the restoration. That was fabulous, you showed it off really well 👍~ Anna

Getting the Christmas bug early, Alan. I'm sure Mrs M will have got some decorating tips for chez Metalman from that. Great tour. I'm not so keen on the queues to get in, though. It did look busy. The Christmas tree in the centre of the house at 4:50 looked amazing. I'm not sure I'd want to be on the stepladder putting the baubles on the top of it.

👍10, we have always wanted to go to one of these events at Castle Howard. Grew up watching Brideshead Revisited so very fond memories of the building. Wow those rooms look incredible, they must take all year to prep them for these events. Wow the trees are huge, how on earth do they get them inside? Gosh this is so magical for families! It’s nice that you can see some of the original paintings still hung too. There are some great walks around Castle Howard, a couple of our favourites take in the grounds. There is a Bettys on the grounds? Did not know that. My mum caught the land train when she visited last year, looked like fun.

Our first ever visit but I really want to go back, the house itself was amazing but a lot hidden by the Alice event, which be both enjoyed by the way. Yes I was surprised when I saw Bettys in the old Stables, unsure if it is a permanent fixture or just there for the Alice event to be honest. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Alan, I'm catching up on videos, wow, that was a great place, super history, and the shop front was very eye catching. I would have loved to have sat under the flag!! I thought the food looked great, possibly charging pub prices though. It's funny the things people don't like - peas for you and jam and custard for me - I could not have eaten the Rolypoly. Very fair score I thought, and you did everything but lick the plate. Well done on the SUBS!! you are absolutely flying, and well deserved. Regards, Ashley

To be honest I was very tempted to lick that plate, both of them in fact, both dishes for me were great and not had jam rolly polly since I was at school, loved it then and still love it now. That was a fun menu and item selections. Love that they do this for the Halloween season. Usually you do not want to eat food that has turned green but this was cool. Looked and sounded quite delicious too. I probably would have went for the draft and all as well being a special occasion. Nice review. Awesome stuff. Have a wonderful day.

Hawkshead is such a fabulous place for a wander around.Ive been in the Queens Head a few times ... ok then lots haha but erm ..never the church, going to have to put that right ... looks wonderful. It reminds me this time of year it's a great place for Christmas shopping for all those quality treats. I bought a Peter Rabbit for my goddaughters daughter from that shop. It had to be sent through the post.... had to laugh when the lady in the Post Office asked what was in my parcel & I said "A rabbit" 🤣😆 Great video 😊
