I met Pete at waveney valley. He was using a bait boat it was like a mini cruiser. What a lovely guy. That was 80s.

As well as all those stunning carp there’s some lovely big pike from various venues sat in your Seastrike/ Alumicraft ally boat. I used the Black Magic amino based bait and it caught me a few nice fish. Thoroughly enjoyed watching, you was right Kev , Pete can talk the hind legs off a donkey, look forward to pt2.

Well, Pete, you really stitched me up a kipper back in the day! Whenever we talked about bait when I was on Savs on the Toads when you were on that rota too before you crossed to the Dark Side (the Looney) you never once let on you knew so much about bait. I find myself blushing even now 33 years later thinking about what tit I made of myself trying to impress you with my meagre bait knowledge. Speedy tried to let on to me that you were well clued up, but I never listened. Kev: This was a priceless vid. Well done and big ups to you, Tugboat Pete!

I used to service Petes car for him back in the Waveney Valley days, he had the caravan on the lake, I was often paid [by choice] in flavours and bait mixes, most not available in any tackle outlets. He was quite a character even back then, I used to cast to the far side of the lake trying desperately to miss the vans with just the lead, Pete would then nip out from behind a van or bush and attach the rig and bait and gently place it in a favoured spot. between him and Hutchie I learnt loads of stuff, I still have the letter from Hutchie and the map of "G" lake with all the crosses on it where the fish were likely to be enticed from. I too almost got a ban from the WVL complex too, but not for catching too many carp! I fished the dreaded "rat hole" swim, and had many good fish from the little island, it certainly lived up to it's name. one particular night I killed 17 rats by various methods and even woke up with one on the bedchair with me,, I was brewing up in the morning and another chap came round asked how many you had? 17 I answered, I killed 'em all and threw them in the nettles. 25 minutes later a very irate Norman Symonds arrived demanding an explanation. apparently as the tale of my rat killing prowess went round the complex it went from rats to carp. thankfully after showing Norman the dead rats I was allowed to stay.
