Hi everyone! I’m gonna be doing this exact route soon… Had to remove some bits out of this one because KZbin rejected it 8 times. However, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. It was a literal horror/hollywood movie that sounded like it was written. But it’s all true.

Oh whew. I was contemplating not listening when the Roman guy was abrupt, and they took him up on the offer despite their misgiving (ugh!). I scrolled to get the gist of the comments. I just don't have it in me right now to hear yet another story of men offing young women who didn't listen to their instincts because society has shamed them out of it. Thank you. I will listen now. I watched the Australian 60 Minutes documentary of this incident. Not only did she outrun this demon who was driving his 4x4 for over 2hrs, she did so in the immense heat, running amongst sand dunes (you ever tried running in sand, it's v.hard work), she also outsmarted him & annoyed him so much, he ended up begging her to just stop & get off his car roof. Once the police combed over the massive crime scene, they were blown away at this young womans courage & sheer willpower to defend her friend & herself. I highly recommend watching the inerviews with these extraordinarily brave young women, who are now BFFs for life🙂

He really looks sinister, a odd expression. Years ago, I did some work on a property with a shared drive and had an altercation with the neighbour over parking. I could never put my finger on it but the guy seemed unhinged. However, wanting not to get into an argument and upset my customer, I moved and agreed not to park where I was again. I'm not easily intimidated and was younger and stronger than him, i ignored the fact he seemed to be spoiling for a physical fight. He was quite taken aback that I agreed easily and went back inside. I completed the job and got paid, my customer apologising and saying how strange the man was. A few years later I discovered that he was now in prison having stabbed his wife to death.

One thing I really enjoy about your channel is how much you humanize the victims of these crimes. A lot of true crime channels talk about the victims in a way that doesn't set right with me, treating them like a plot point in the story. You mentioning how terrified the people are or talking about the pain they went through as well as starting by explaining some of the life of the victims really makes these crimes so much more impactful.

At what point do we need to start holding citizens accountable for their own stupid decisions? If everyone knows the Australian justice system is lousy, then they should probably know a bunch of predators are out there, and they probably shouldn't be advertising how they need a stranger to take them cross country.

The Australian judicial system is a joke when it comes to r*pists, not only do judges frequently refuse to give convictions on cases that had overwhelming evidence to prove r*pe occurred, those they do convict are given atrociously light sentences, even for child r*pe! The judicial system also constantly lets them out early on “good behaviour” and enables them to reoffend, with this same cycle of leniency continuing seemingly every time they reoffend. What’s worse is it’s well known that the police do not have the resources to monitor all the high risk criminals out on parole, yet parole boards still insist a criminal’s release is justified due to the “strict protective measures” they’ve put in place, they insist their decisions don’t endanger the community whilst knowingly obfuscating that the police have told them time and time again they don’t have the ability to ensure those safety measures are implemented. Parole boards know that there aren’t actually any reliable safeguards in place but still let r*pists back into society anyway. This case is a perfect example of how negligent it is to allow the release of a high risk criminal without the resources required to enforce the conditions of their release. Theoretically, this crime shouldn’t have been possible as he broke his conditions for his release by contacting people online, but without anyone actively monitoring him to notice this there was no one to intervene and arrest him, so he was free to continue his hunt for victims. Considering the high likelihood an unknown woman’s body is buried out in those sand dunes that police were oblivious to, it’s disturbing to think about how many more women he would have been free to harm if not for these two women successfully surviving their encounter with him. I’m glad he’s been locked up but I don’t have any confidence he’ll serve his sentence in full, the parole board will probably let him loose on “compassionate grounds” once his old age results in health problems.

Instead of all the comments about how silly they were, how about expecting better from men? So we don't have to live assuming every man is a potential predator. Stats tell us its usually someone you know, millions hitch worldwide every day and are perfectly safe, not advocating you do it but you can't live your life expecting horror around every corner. This maggot should have been in jail so lets direct our anger where it should be, at the law enforcement who didn't do their job, and whatever judge was responsible for him walking free in the first place. Stop blaming girls who should be safe to go anywhere in this beautiful country without expecting to be raped and murdered. But hey, cheers for the victim blaming.

Why was this guy even allowed to be out in society. this right here, when people ask about DV victims and why they didn't get help - this, you are looking at it. Partly I think it has to do with the scumbag woman who lie about things like this, so it often isn't taken seriously. This is why you see almost exactly a month after they leave or try to get help they get ended. I can give you a perfect example of how these monsters are not taken seriously.
