Great video explaining all the jargon and kudos for promoting other content that’s complimentary to yours.

Great video Jesse! So many buzz words we throw around. I’m getting into the NFL draft at the moment and having the same problem!

Haha thanks mate! Oh I bet. I'm a pretty casual premier league fan and I know for their transfer period I just wait until the end to see what happened and move on, too much noise haha

The best draft description I have ever seen. Good vid mate👍

Great video as usual! Been following AFL from 10 years but I never fully understand the draft, maybe this year I will give it a try and watch it 😅

You should make a series about rating past drafts, i don't think I've seen any other footy youtubers do a series on it, just a suggestion though.

Fantastic assessment of the draft, would be interesting to look back on this years draft in 5yrs to see how many continue playing or are guns, the same could be said for the draft 5 years ago. Strongly beleive that a club's 1st pick should be quarantined for a F&S pick, if multiple picks are identified IE: Camporeale boys then the clubs next pick is used unless the club wants to leave the player to the draft and hope they are available. Thanks for the look at what next years draft potentially looks like, I can only hope that West Coast holds firm and does not trade out of this. I recall early this year quite a few media types call this years draft weak compared to last years draft. Keep up the awesome work 💙 💛 🦅 🏆

Your content is awesome you and Dylans are both the best content around . If talls take longer to develope why would teams overlook a tall in this years draft for next years draft ? I'd think the following drafts talls would have to be significantly better to warrant waiting an extra year ?
@TrueFootyAFLАй бұрын
Thanks for saying that mate! That's a good question. I've heard Dylan refer to the fact that the talls next year are a bit taller and with a bit more upside by comparison to this year's. But there's always a risk by waiting that extra year - you might not have the pick you want, and the players you have in mind might not develop as expected (given they are a year younger). I suspect it may be a club by club thing

As a Cats fan, this draft is oretty relaxed haha, no real risk of getting attached to a specific prospect!

As someone that has an interest in list management and watches a lot of interviews with the clubs list managers and recruiters, you really nailed it. Clubs generate a rating (a specific number) for each player based on a host of information but which factors in the position they will likely play at the AFL level and how much effect that position has on a game and they use that rating to rank players not only within a given draft but across drafts. This allows them to directly compare talent between an inside mid, Key positional player or a small forward. Most clubs will take the best player available (the one with the highest rating) left on the draft board and will only use list-need to separate similar rated players. (This is based on listening to ALOT of interviews with list managers and recruiters)

Thanks mate, well said. I probably also could have added that the media consensus rankings will always be off compared to the real thing too - clubs see it pretty differently quite often!

Should do a video on all the Father Sons. If that doesn’t make a long enough video. Add NGA kids.

Gotta agree, I think the top 5-6 players from 2023 take the cake, but the later round depth is nowhere near this years, that’s why I would be hoping the Tigers don’t try and grab pick 2 if I was a Richmond fan. Good vid!
@TrueFootyAFLАй бұрын
Thank you mate! Yeah it would be interesting combining the two drafts to see where players would land. Tbf I wonder if FOS and Draper weren't a little hampered this year could they have gone top 5 in 2023? It's still quite possible they may not
@spindoctor6385Ай бұрын
It should not be legal to match a bid on a player with late picks and then trade back in and get a pick lower than the ones used. I am not saying this just because Essendon was used in the example. (That is a good enough reason though) It defeats the purpose of the rule that forces a team to use their next pick(s) to match any bid.
@TrueFootyAFLАй бұрын
I agree it's a strange workaround. I remember WC being involved the first time I saw it and I didn't know what was happening until after, surely that has got to be written out
