Kampala has changed a lot in the last 30 years. Now you can find lakeside resorts, rooftop bars and fancy houses that will set you back a cool million. I decided I would take a casual tour through the richest neighborhoods of the city, Munyonyo and Muyenga, and see what I would find. In the end I just got drunk.

Am not Ugandan but i lived there once. Thanks for your coverage but its not only Munyonyo that has a rich neighbourhood. Also Speke Munyonyo ain't the most expensive hotel. Theres lots of 5 star hotels available in kampala. The city has more than 10 districts with mixed slum/rich neighbourhoods. The prob with UG its land system that promotes mixed settlements. Ugandans are some of the most hospitable, friendly and entrepreneurial folks u will see in africa. That beautiful country is host to many immigrants from across africa. Enjoy ur visit. Hope u visit CongoDR too

Can’t wait for the next one! Your language skills are next level & you’ve done a descent job showing Kampala. Uganda does have a lot of refugees and immigrants from around Africa (& Asia low-key). There are large Somali, Ethiopian, Eritrea, Congolese & Indian communities within Kampala. I would say the Indian Influence on Ugandan culture has a longer more complicated history. But generally Uganda is an easy place to be in as a foreigner; you can build businesses and own a home without much trouble (the ease with which foreigners “do things” in the country is somewhat problematic) I hope you share more undocumented parts of the city!

What's the story of the Indian influence on Uganda ? What illegal activities do foreigners do there ?
@the.name.is_kara
@the.name.is_kara 3 жыл бұрын
@@seawolf7610 the answers to your questions are quite long and expansive to be presented in a simple comment but let me try to highlight a few things. Well as you may or may not know, Uganda was a British colony and due to interests of exporting cash crops out of the country and other goods in, railways were built across Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. To build the railways, Indians were hired Indian coolies to be specific (you can look up the Indian coolies). They were contracted labour that happened to immigrate at the end of their work hence the considerably large Indian communities in Uganda and Kenya. There was institutionalised racial segregation by the British rulers at the time to the extent that the natives were second class citizens in their own country (that is on the negative side) and it’s from that among other things that led to the explosion of Asians by then president Idi Amin (you can read more on it here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expulsion_of_Asians_from_Uganda) On the bright side the Indian cuisine found its way in the Ugandan food culture, inspiring a lot of street foods like the Rolex and various renditions of the samosa to mention but a few.
@the.name.is_kara
@the.name.is_kara 3 жыл бұрын
@@seawolf7610 given the developing nature of the country, there is a lot of openness to investors and NGOs and charities that some people masquerade in those umbrellas only to work without paying taxes, take goods from the country at very low prices that do not in anyway support the other party, there are so many reports of unethical work conditions e.t.c e.t.c and the fact that some foreigners get to own property illegally and get away with it, practice deforestation and swamp reclamation without serious reprimand…

Peace and quite is not a priority to Ugandans. We like to live within our communities, seeing neighbors chatting with people. So peace and quite is for westerners because they are individualistic and do not like to associate with neighbour's and community. If Ugandans want peace and quiet they go to the village and, that is peace and quiet from all the traffic but we still have our families around.

We also spent the night there in some of the less expensive but still very luxurious and amazing rooms (close to the waterfall) and also had a photo shoot in yet another of the rooms. I particularly like the botanical gardens they have there. Definitely the priciest resort we stayed at for the duration of our 3 weeks journey through Rwanda and Uganda but well worth it.

You are one of the better vloggers, more so a reporter. I went to the hotel resort and can vouch for it being premium. The president happened to be visiting it for a meeting on the day. It was quite an experience to witness his huge military security detail. We and our car were checked on entry to the extensive grounds,apparently fir weapons.i enjoy learning languages but you are on another level.

I’m starting to notice that you don’t take well to the sun. You must have had a desk job here at home. Your really fun to watch. You have balls! I will continue to like the vids!

Good tactic to get them to show you presidential suite at Munyonyo. Well done! Kalolo in Kampala is also rich suburb. I would have liked your vlog to continue longer duration. I was born in Uganda. Lake Victoria looked so calm in the background.

Hey bro, after that rollercoaster of not very nice events in Dodoma and that crapy FRIENDS BUS COMPANY, this must have been a welcome relief. Tanzania is nice too though. How you manage to grasp the local languages that fast really beats me. Welcome to Uganda. Hope you enjoy your time here. Cheers
