I am so with you on not doing tarot during a mental health crisis. I have been struggling the past month with some really bad anxiety and obsessive thoughts; tarot just makes the problem worse for me when I do a reading while in an anxious state. Once I calm down and I’m thinking more clear, I can do a reading. But doing a reading while in that anxious state does me more harm than good. What does work is talking to a human being who understands me and not consulting my cards. I love that you brought that up because not every issue needs a specific deck or even tarot to work through.

Martin! I appreciate your voice of reason and truth. It is very concerning to me that individuals who are not trained in mental health feel comfortable discussing topics that they are not trained in. It feels arrogant. Yet it seems it is sanctioned by many. Thanks for standing up for your beliefs. I am grateful for you my friend. 💗

Thanks my friend. I honestly don't think people know what they are doing and saying these days. It really is a complete and utter shit show 🩷

I’m glad you always speak your mind Martyn. ❤ People on social media are becoming more insufferable all the time. I’m not online as much anymore and I feel so much better for it. 👍 Everyone with a deck and a camera is an influencer, life coach, therapist, etc. who wants to be looked up to as a leader and it’s just ridiculous. Sorry to hear about that awful experience at the dentist, as a child and the pain with the extraction. Glad you are doing better. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for sharing your voice with your mental health perspective. I agree with you 100%. Mental health is nothing to play around with and getting retraumatized can cause so much unnecessary suffering. For those who want to incorporate the tarot with their mental health they can actually seek out mental health providers that use tarot in their practice.

Thank you so much for your comment dear Benny. It's sad now that people are trying to replace a professional person who could help with mental health issues. With a divination tool. I don't think people realise how damaging it could ultimately be.

I've never been on facebook, and it seems to me that I do not miss out on anything of importance... I feel you with your dentist things - I have an appointment next week, and don't want to go, but it's necessary, so I will... I'll think of you and be brave. In my country therapists are for free, but they have a waiting list that can be months up to a year before you can get an appointment. It's good to have something to keep you going and make you feel empowered and supported until then. And if one chooses tarot for survival-support, any deck will do. For that purpose it's also oK to take scary cards out, or to write supportive messages on the cards or wth, as long as it keeps you safe until the therapy finally starts. But not as a replacement for the therapy itself.

Dental woes here too Martyn. It’s lovely to listen to you. I had to step away from social media most of last year. I’ve only put a toe in the fb waters to connect with a few very mild mannered dollhouse enthusiasts 😊 Glad you’re recovering ❤️🩹

Hello, sorry to hear about your dental troubles and glad you are on the mend! January, so far for me, has been cold, dark and dreary. (I sound like a poorly written novel lol). I wish we could have a couple of days of sunshine to break up the clouds. I wonder why some people feel the need to lash out when a person expresses an opinion that is different from the status quo? I should say the status quo of that particular thread. I work with a therapist for my mental wellbeing. For me, I can't imagine any tarot or oracle deck replacing the professionalism of the care I have recieved. I do use tarot and oracle decks to support the work I am doing. For me, one of the many reasons I love tarot is about self reflection. It's difficult for me to see how a deck of cards alone can help with some of the very serious diagnosises that some people have and struggle with. I have mountains of respect for the people who are finding their way to a healthier life using tarot, oracle. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the importance that therapy can have.

Thank you so much for your comment. Having experienced mental health problems myself. There is no way that I would ever think about using tarot as a self diagnosis tool. It could be very dangerous. I find that people now seem to just want quick answers to life's problems. It doesn't work like that as we both know. But yes, self reflection is perfect for the tarot. And if we are having a shitty day. Maybe pull a card or something to help us focus. But that's where I draw the line. Let's hope that February is brighter. Well it can't get any worse 🤣

Hey Martyn 😊 So sorry to hear about your dentist stuff... Definitely can relate with the anxiety and the bad tooth 🙄🫣 Also loved your opinion about mental health and decks... Though I assume most people are just not aware of the danger of "working" on wounds unsupported 🤔 Wishing you a better February 🤞

I've listened to your podcast and I think it was about time to have something like that. I guess people are just afraid of what others think and having their channel closed or not monetized anymore. I also had a terrible experience last year in the dentist and I went through with the root canal... the problem is that I would like to change dentist but here in the uk and in the North where I am they are not taking new patients!😢 I would like you and Renee to talk about the in the tarot that has been changed to fit in an idea. I don't have the fyodor deck for a reason. I do have this might hurt tarot and the fact that the world card is somebody fat doesn't make sense to me because I see the majors as what would be perfect for us... clearly being fat is no fun and I am having many problems because of my body weight.

Thank you so much for your comment. And also your support. We wanted to do something different and bring something to the table that needs to be discussed. Ah I know about the dentist issue in the north as I have relatives in Newcastle. I hope you get it sorted soon 🤗💫 I'm sure that Renée would be more than happy to discuss many different aspects of the tarot 💜💜

Only a professional mental health worker or trained therapist can address trauma and issues; it cannot become a free for all and as for recommending decks to sort it??? Sorry about your traumatic time at dentist, it is awful so feel for you. x

Totally agree when you can’t point something out that’s not going along with what everyone else is saying it’s not real it’s just not! I saw a lady point out that the sound on someone’s channel was quite low etc and you ought to have seen how she was jumped on ffs even by the person who’s channel it was like she was criticising when she was just pointing it out because it was fucking low lol honestly it’s laughable watching them all like a bunch of sheep saying the same thing..bore off 😂
