Im no Christian or Catholic, but i fully understand how important Notre Dame is. This artifact-- this massive talisman of God. I understand the tragedy of losing such a house of communion.

With the enormous concentrated effort with one goal in mind, these talented and very skilled craftsmen have done what many believed couldn’t happen, rebuilding and restoring the 800 year old cathedral to an astonishing degree of Gothic architectural authenticity and beauty. It’s cleaner, brighter, and more welcoming than before with the paint freshened walls reflecting more natural light. Human beings working together can do a lot. Stunning achievement. Merci.

The day the place burned is a day I will never forget. I remember waking up in my parents house, and both of them were screaming, yelling at me to get to a TV. When I did, I watched as my favourite church on Earth...was in flames. I don't even think I paid attention in my university classes that day. All i cared about was knowing if Notre Dame, a church that had survived 8 1/2 centuries of wars and revolutions, was going to survive this. Today, that part of my heart has been healed. Notre Dame is back and better than ever

It’s mind blowing how DIRTY Notre Dame was even before the fire, especially compared to how light all the stonework is after it’s been cleaned, now the stained glass windows really stand out with all their colour! 😁🤩
@heliedecastanet18822 күн бұрын
You are totally right ! Too many people forget today that a restoration was ongoing in Notre Dame since 2018 and was supposed to last… 15 years (because of the lack of money). This fire was tragic, of course, but it speeded up the whole process. 5 years instead of 15.

If you could juat investigate to see how many churches were burnt in arson attacks in France in particular, but in hole Europe in general, then publish the police reports, at the end tell us what is your conclusions After this you understand that there is a pattern...

All the arts collection were mysteriously and conveniently taken out before the 'fire'. As if we don't know..
@vaheteiole14 күн бұрын
Some artwork had been removed in preparation for the renovations, and most of the cathedral's sacred relics were held in the adjoining sacristy, which the fire did not reach; all the cathedral's relics survived.[42][49][50] Some contents were moved by a human chain of emergency workers and civil servants.[35] Many valuables that were not removed also survived, but the state of many others remained unknown as of 16 April 2019.[13][needs update].
@EricLehmann-e7i3 күн бұрын
no arts collection were removed at all, sir ,only a few copper statues on the roof in the vicinity of the spike had been removed at the start of the renovation program the rest of valuables in the cathedral were removed by the firemen and civil servants during the blaze Sacred relics were held in the adjoining sacristy wich did not burn The unique big 200yo clock and its mechanism got totally destroyed
