Thank you kind lady for rescuing that cat that was chained up. This was such a heart warming story that it made me cry. 😢 The cat had been severely traumatized. Kind lady's patience with the cat transformed it over time into a gentle, loving friend. And it seemed adding a kitten to the family helped the rescued cat to calm down more and heal its mental state. What an inspiring story. Thank you.

I adopted a cat that was very similar. I had bite marks and scratches no matter how hard I tried to be gentle and loving. Finally my vet gave me a pain killer for arthritis in cats! It worked like a miracle. When she moved, it hurt. She was terribly overweight when I got her and it took careful feeding to help her lose the weight because exercise was so hard and painful for her. The last three years of her life she lived on a heated cat Poof in my bedroom with soft pet potty pads on the floor nearby so she could pee without having to climb into a box. The pain medication worked a miracle with her until she passed away at 15. Not a perfect life, but better than being thrown away.

So many people don't understand that when you chain up a dog or a cat that they will get very aggressive over a short time because their movements are restricted, they begin to get frustrated & finally they become vicious, even to their owner. That's how people have wound up being hospitalized or worse. People don't think that a cat can hurt them all that much, but in a lot of ways, being attacked by a cat can be more often fatal as opposed to a dog. To begin with, cats are MUCH faster than a dog, & far more flexible in their movement, a cat's claws & teeth are much sharper than a dog's, and if they can knock you down, they'll immediately try to tear out your throat. And yes, I've seen it happen, twice. You need to remember that even house cats are still predators, most dogs have had a large portion of the wolf bred out of them, but it's just not that way with cats. A cat can readapt to the wild much easier than a dog, plus, dogs are "Pack" animalss who hunt in groups, cats are by their very nature, solitary hunters, and cats are fearless, they'll attack other animals far larger than they are. That's why when dealing with feral cats, or one that's been abused like this one has, I'll use a pair of welder's gloves, plus a thick leather set of welder's sleeves & apron, because a really angry, frightened cat can tear you up with their claws alone. It's why they "rabbit-kick" with their hind feet, in the wild they'll use those feet to rip their prey's stomachs open. So when dealing with cats like the one here, take every precaution, yes, if your lucky you might be able to turn them into a sweet natured house cat, but don't rely on it, for sometimes, the emotional damage has gone on too long and all that you're left with is the sad decision to have them euthanized.
