This was inevitable, but it still hurts my soul to see how simple a challenge this is to stop Kirby. 6:58 Even Nana, after often being abandoned by her brother, succeeded in this challenge. I think it would play out as a normal Ice climber’s one and only, but then have an obstacle at the end that hits Popo into lava, thus disqualifying him, and leaving Nana in a perfect position to complete it alone.

I was thinking like some sort of timed barrier that imprisons one while leaving the other free. That reminds me; maybe something similar would work for a potential Luma One-and-Only? Seeing how Rosalina and her pal are the only other dual character that can desync.

Just add a portal just before the end that you can't get around. Popo will get teleported while nana will just fall to the end. I'm not sure if there is a way to make nana take the portal though.

If every character could use their final smash as well just so it's even more through it might be possible to make it kirby proof. Besides we can technically abuse the fact kirby can copy only one ability at a time too. It would be alot character specific obstacles but it could be done. After all he's going to have to figure out how to make a one and only for every character so hypothetically if he can do that then making a challenge kirby can't pass with his hats and final smash may be possible.

I made one like that. It has 4 sections: 1: vertical wind tunnel with lava walls. To make it through you need either fast fall speed or stomp move. Pac has neither. 2: crawl under lava. While Pac can crawl, it’s terrible. It doesn’t let him go under anything he couldn’t before. Little Mac can just run under - same with Inkling, Pichu and Pikachu. 3: Switch in a box. Switch inside 4 solid walls - hit it to expose portal. To do this you need either a projectile which goes through solid walls (bell doesn’t) or a disjointed up attack, which Pac doesn’t have. 4: Tight lava tunnel. Built for Jigglypuff (though Steve, Hero with Zoom and Sephiroth can do it too) it’s essentially a really long up climb between two tightly placed lava lines. Pac’s Side B always goes sideways at the start like Sora’s so he hits the lava. He can’t reach the top without it.

Kirby can actually do without copy abilities. Air into the lava crevice with the lever in it. You will take damage. Once you get close enough to the lever press a to perform a attack that will activate the lever. Once the lever is activated you can go through the portal, and complete the stage using Kirby.

It may be rule breaking, but Kirby can squeeze into the gap and hit the switch, even if he is being bounced around by lava. He may also be able to bounce out by damaging himself on the lava to the point that his knockback speed becomes faster than the wind or him just going up the walls.

Now i am curious about a stage that no character can beat, but all can get surprisingly close. that second clause is likely going to be the hard part to satisfy, if only for the definition differences between individuals. If one long obstacle course, it is inevitable that some would be eliminated by the first obstacle that others could get past, and that does not feel like a close failure. Repeating the same obstacle course in a different order would likely be more convincing, but then comes space limitations, if not some complaints about the methodology of the solution to the problem. If all it takes to stop the roster is to put an overly specialized obstacle like incineroar's diagonal lava tunnel at the end of an otherwise pretty basic course, with a secondary course for him specifically to feel just as accomplished... The weakest link on the roster is likely going to have the easiest generalized course, and the only thing stopping more competent fighters from abusing the easy course is a specialized entry gate level obstacle, resulting in some level of cheapening. Making a single course for the entire roster to survive on the other hand comes with its own problems. What sort of challenge can be put at the end that all fighters can reach but none can clear that does not feel cheap? A wall sealing off a tunnel is the easy answer, but who would be satisfied by it? It is this exact "impossibility" that makes me so curious if it could be done.
