Not everyone had the extra money... However, its worth saving for a Force Feedback wheel (not a mere "Shaker" mechanism) .You really need to feel the tire slip, in order to drive well in Sim Racing games. It elevates all racing games, to a much higher level of Enjoyability and Re-Playability. Newer wheels even have 900 degree rotation, for even more realistic control possibilities. A 6 way Shifter, is also key to a better feel and experience. And if you have the extra money... high end Brake peddle use "Strain Gauge" technology... which adds like 500 times the sensory resolution (far superior control and braking realism). Back in the old Arcade days... Atari came out with a Sit down racing game called "Hard Drivin", and later "Race Drivin". The controls on that game, were utterly amazing. The Steering wheel could rotate like 3x in either direction... and its drive shaft was in the center of what appears to be a "Dryer-Motor". At max FFB levels.. you could probably strap a baby to the wheel.. and it would still be able to spin the baby around. It had a 6 way shifter, with an Electromagnetic-Locking Clutch system. A Clutch Pedal, Gas Pedal, and a Special Brake Pedal. The brake pedal used a different spring mechanism.. with a rubber damper.. and it had a "Strain Gauge" attached to it... instead of the typical arcade "Pots". In the "Test Menu", you can see the ranges of input / output values... in numerical form. The analog gas pedal was like a Fraction of the values, of the brake pedal. The brake pedal sensed all of the motion... all the way to the floor... but also... if you pushed your foot into the pedal with heavy pressure... it would sense your foot pressure levels.. despite the pedal already being to the floor. This helped to Simulate how real Hydraulic Brakes, actually work / feel. Interestingly enough... Atari had gotten a famous Car Engineer of some sort... to provide the Realistic Car Physics values. While the graphics are very Low-Poly... the game "Feels" and Controls... Incredibly realistic. Far beyond any other arcade / sim racers, of that era.. and far beyond it... decades into the future. Interestingly enough... I had never learned to drive a Manual (Stick / Shifter), until I played this game. Through a few Trial and Error attempts, I quickly learned how to drive in Manual mode... and it was a fantastically fun experience. Anyway... once you have felt what its like to experience the ultimate in control, and sensory feedback... its very difficult to go back to playing "Blind" (feeling-less). Of course, not all great racing games need FFB wheels. Legendary arcade racers like: Pole Position, Sega's "Turbo", Super Sprint, and countless others... Need to be played using a 360 degree spinner / wheel (free-spinning optical-based wheel or spinner controller).

Pretty accurate video. For retro racing arcade games where Force Feeback was either non-existent / not "essential" to game play, I think this wheel does a great job for a relatively low cost. For more sim-style games, sure FF would be better, but for 80s arcade racers, this works well.

DD wheels are already top end for the experience but thrustmaster has good mid entry wheels

Beginning of this video is DEAD on. I cannot stand this generation of gaming. I have such little time to game yet every time I turn on my console I need another update. I'm over it for that, and a thousand other reasons. I play my Saturn now about %99 of the time.

Hori has never released a quality wheel which is odd considering they make great controllers and fight sticks and again Dirt 5 is awful even with a great setup but I sure am glad to see more Wicked Racing 🤘🤓🤘 Nerdcore Hardcore
