A cheap MAX038 function generator kit (Pt.1)

I had read that there was a way to make it sweep, actually 2 different types of sweep circuits in it. And, another showed a way to fine tune the amount of distortion in the sine wave by adding another potentiometer circuit I think. Looks much better than the 2206 providing I can get the distortion down to a decent level.

Is Max038 better than 2206? For the audio track, since I intend to modify it to add the sweep function...

For basic functionality in the audio frequency-range the XR2206 is sufficient. The MAX038 has/had the advantage of the 20 MHz max. frequency compared to around 2 MHz for the XR2206.

Interesting project, but the ranges indeed seem off. Nice design too.

It's very sad that there are no original ICs available anymore. At least the 2206 is available as a "fake" non genuine but seemingly good enough part.
