An enticing as that idea might be, it’s much more complicated than that. Even in modern practices the process of unraveling one’s psyche is different per each case and is unparalleled in its difficultly. I’ve never found a single teacher, professor or psychiatrist that could ever nail down what made me tick any better than I already could which says a lot about how little we currently know about the human mind even at a professional level. There was only one person I’ve ever met that knew more than the others and to this day I somewhat question if they were a person or the living embodiment of something else but that’s a different story. At its basis blaming neglectful parents for everything is oversimplification, while they are certainly at least in part at fault, simply forgetting everything else that contributed to your problems might actually become what prevents you from moving past them.

There are a lot of terrible parents out there that should have not become parents. As draconic as it seems, I'm still of the opinion that you should have to get a licence to breed, and if you're found crapping out kids without a licence, your kids are taken away and adopted out to parents that actually want them. Kids might have an actual chance, that way....maybe.

@perpetualfatigue9703
@perpetualfatigue9703 4 жыл бұрын
@@JonRinzRaccotterz Basically if you are going to burn the bridge, or in this case the village you should use as much as you can afford or atleast enough to stop a possible revenge. It overlaps with sayings such as 'never corner a beast' or 'don't leave behind loose ends' because when you cross the bottom line and they are still in a state to dish out damage to you, you can be assured of pain. A great example would be the driveway story where the neighbours burned the bridge by screwing him over but never thought of a possible retaliation or saw it as a small threat. Anyway if they were to continue their efforts you can be assured that the revenge of OP will be harsh and regret amongst the neigbours will be taller than the Himalayas.
@someguycalledcerberus9805
@someguycalledcerberus9805 4 жыл бұрын
@@JonRinzRaccotterz Machiavelli was an Italian renaissance author and a precursor of "realpolitik". In his work "The Prince" he outlined pragmatic and amoral suggestions on how to stay in power as a politician. This specific quotation means exactly what it says: if you can, treat others well and befriend them. If, however, you must antagonise someone, go all the way and destroy them so thoroughly that they cannot retaliate. ( I think the quote is from this work, because these are the kind of things he wrote in it, though of course, I could be wrong). To use an example from fiction: don't kill John Wick's dog. If you must kill it, kill him too, otherwise will hunt you down. Or to refer to this video: don't shun the kid; and if you must, then either kill him or hurt him so bad he cannot burn the village down. Obviously extreme examples, not applicable to everyday life. In everyday life this just means that you should avoid pissing off others, and when you really have to, expect retaliation unless you can somehow take all their power to hurt you.

There was this chick in my area, when I was a teenager, who set her family house on fire before she was even 10 years old because her mom used to let her drug dealer molest her. When I would talk to the girl about it, she would always say that the fire's embrace was warmer than her mother's could ever be. She had intended to kill herself in the fire. Nobody died, and this girl thankfully got adopted into a loving family who helped heal the wounds that the hospital couldn't. She is now a fully-functioning adult with a fiancé and a job that pays over $100k/year, which is an amazing turn around, in my eyes.

I am surprised no one brought up the real "Evil Child" story. Basically, there was this little girl who was extremely hostile, manipulative, and even outright tried to kill her step parents and step siblings. The step parents took her to a doctor where she was initially diagnosed with with a personality disorder and deemed a psychopath (exhibiting psychopathic tendencies). She was even interviewed for documentation. Well the parents were on the brink of giving up until she also started acting out sexually aggressive, while still only being six years old. They took her to a therapist where she finally broke down and disclosed that she vividly remembered being molested as a toddler. After that she went through intense therapy and finally got better.

Depends on what they did, and their status in society, say they committed an awful crime against someone, and got away with it, statute of limitations/ double jeapordy and such. In that case, vengeance should be expected. Teen suicide rates in Japan is extremely high, even compared to Japan’s already abnormally high suicide rate, and the rate of teen suicide spikes during the school year. Another issue with Japanese youths is rampant classroom bullying. Due to Japan’s culture desiring societal normalcy, anyone too unique or out-of-the-box is likely to experience awful levels of bullying that teachers aren’t trained to try and approach and stop. Often teachers trying to intervene make times outside the teacher’s gaze worse for the victim. In my personal opinion, if someone is bullied to the point of suicide, and I have direct access to knowledge of who those bullies were, they feel no repentance, continue bullying others, and are generally awful, I’d have little qualm beating the snot out of them, regardless of the normal moral choice, as those kinds of people have internalized the belief that they can hurt others without retaliation because the other is simply “weird, odd, out of the blue” Given the fact some people have and will likely always be born with a disability or condition of some sort, either mental of physical, and some people are simply unequiped to deal with bullying (because fuck anyone who says bullying is an okay part of society), those types of people who grow up thinking it’s okay to bully the already ostracized are simply major contributers to suicide, and as education and basic human empathy has failed to stop them, a viscious beating is the next option, as you can’t exactly jail someone for verbal bullying unless their words are deemed harmful or threatening with enough legitimate credence. www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/2016-06-13/.103155 thediplomat.com/2019/02/japans-school-bullying-escalates-with-spike-in-youth-suicide/ Sources for anyone interested

One of my best friend a few months ago ran away from home. Her dad send images and when she disappeared to a few groups including our class group. The next day, a few of my classmates found her alone in a shopping mall closeby. So they told her dad and her dad picked her up. The next day, all the teachers found out but there's this one teacher who scolded at her for running away. The teacher asked her why she ran away and my friend didn't say anything. So the teacher just assumed she tried to meet her boyfriend. She was told to go to meet the counselor later. A few days later, we started getting closer. She always tells me stories of her family. She told me she misses being with her mum. Her parents are divorced. She moved in our school last year because her dad took her in. She has a stepmother and she told me how much she hates her because she always insults her and makes her do all the chores, including taking care of her other 4 younger siblings. She only told me this because she's quiet at school which I am too and her parents are divorced which is the same as me. I also hate my stepmother but she doesn't force me to do stuff. She then later told me about that one time she tried drinking bleach because she was so stressed her father did something. I asked her what and she doesn't want to tell me. I was shocked hearing she tried to commit suicide because this is the first time I heared someone close to me try. After school is done for the day, I end up looking for advices on how to help your suicidal friend for the whole night. Her birthday was in a few weeks so I planned to give her a quite expensive shoes that doesn't fit me. Next day we met and I tell her all the encouraging things and seeing her smile makes me happy. Then school closed and we had to quarantine again. A few weeks later, her dad posted the same thing, showing that she's missing. My friend asked her dad on Whatsapp a few times but he had gone quiet. Then one of her best friend which is also my best friend found a post on Instagram about a 16 year old girl who tried to leave her home and go to her mum's but gets caught because we're not allowed to go outside of our state. It doesn't say who but we searched for a few articles to make sure it's her. After searching, all the information we found were the same as what my best friend that went missing told me. We found out she wanted to run and live with her mum because her dad r*ped her every week since February this year in the morning when other family members were sleeping. Her father was cuffed later on. To my best friend, I hope you're doing better now. I hope you get to live with your mum even if it means I won't be able to see you anymore. Please be safe and happy. I'm sorry I can't do anything even after hearing you telling me about trying to commit suicide. And also, your father is a devil. I hope he rots in prison for what he did to you.

I went to a small town school. 17 kids in my class. So I knew about 10 kids that "flunked" a grade and had to take that whole year again. This was through 8th grade. When these kids were taken from their group and placed in the incoming group, they almost immediately started to show social dysfunction. And it only got worse. And their school grades did not vastly improve. Most of them became anti-social bullies. I doubt any of them graduated high school. Surprised only 1 did jail time. Some of those kids were farm kids and preferred farming to school. They were as smart as everybody else, just didn't care for school. Some were real bastards. That was in the 70's. I didn't think it was right then and I still don't.

I've had problematic neighbors in my previous house. In the 6 years we were there, we watched their little kid transform into a very problematic person. The kid would often try to help around the house, simple stuff like hose the garden, try to clean outside, little stuff that anyone would say "awn he wants to help". Not his mom. She scolded him for *everything*. Absolutely everything. She'd scream at him for "messing up" the garden and getting everything wet, and just be horrible at him for no apparent reason. The relationship between his parents was bad, the first week we moved there, there was a huge fight and it seemed like everything was being thrown out of he house and she kept screaming "do it! Hit me! Everyone will hear it! I dare you!", While the husband kept saying "are you fucking insane? I'm not doing anything!". I'm aware of abusive relationships and domestic violence, but this was really not the case, that woman was horrible and that man was the definition of "absent parent". Anyways The kid grew up being treated like shit and in that hellish environment. So he started to spend most of his days doing god knows what in the streets, he started to become a horrible mix of his parents. He'd turn dismissive and manipulative when questioned what he was doing out all day and explosive when his mom started to nag him about stuff. I heard the mom be an asshole to that kid for years, but the things the kid told her and called her years later were far worse. And the funny thing is, they were religious when stuff were going specially disastrous. Then a bunch of people would come over their house and they'd pray all afternoon. Then after a couple of days of peace, with them throwing barbecue parties and being noisy as fuck, shit would go down again. Last I heard the kid refused to work or study. It seems he was doing drugs and going to parties he wasn't supposed to because he was a minor. These are people who shouldnt have gotten married and definitely shouldn't have had a kid together. Also thank fuck I moved out.

The brother with the 'needing love' issues who was eventually killed by the police probably had untreated borderline personality disorder - reckless behaviour, alternating between idealising and demonising, and severe abandonment issues are all hallmarks of that. While trauma is the precipitating issue in at least 60% of cases (and I think that's a conservative estimate), there may well be an underlying genetic predisposition that the surviving brother didn't have, or the issues may have been slightly different due to the two siblings being different ages, and there was some traumatic experience, or understanding/lack of understanding of the situation that one of the brothers may have had and the other didn't. Either way, 'survivor's guilt' s a real thing, and the surviving brother might want to talk to a counsellor about the loss of their brother.

When his sales were low she called him into her office with her superior and fired him on the spot (which was actually against the rules), he tried to talk to her but she wouldn't listen. A few days later he's working for a competitor and lands a multimillion contract that he'd been working on. We found this out when the CEO of the company flew 400 miles to go to her office and fire her for her incompetence in person telling everyone in the office how badly she fucked up. Her husband won three years pay in a wrongful termination lawsuit.

Back in my formative years, I attended a catholic school for 1st and 2nd grade. Trouble is, I had undiagnosed mental and neurological conditions that made it looks like I was just an asshole. I was also extremely inquisitive, and would ask questions about things that they didn't like. Because of this, I was harassed daily by teachers, staff, and the student body to the point that I was suicidal. Well, when I left after 2nd grade, the principal was fired and they were forced to become more accepting of people with disabilities. I only know this because I had exactly one friend on the inside who confirmed this to me when I was doing some work on the old house. (Ok, dad was working on the house and I was just there but I brought tools and supplies back and forth!) To seal the deal, I told her to tell the entire school that I died from self inflicted injuries due to what they did to me. Idk what happened after that, but I hope I brought a lot of suffering and guilt from that last act

@@kingnate9534It's not justifying anything, it's saying the negative consequences of being a collective dick to even one individual. For example, if society truly cared about school shooters then they would hold the people that bully them into doing it accountable to. Bullying in and of itself is a immoral punishable offense. Even if the blame is all on the shooter the bullies still attacked them and should at least get punished for that. Why does no one talk about going after the abuser's abusers? After all aren't they abusers too? Why does it take for someone to snap to people to give even somewhat of a damn. Society needs to be fixed.

But she was not there for me as an adult, when I started waking up to the abuse and toxicity my family had (and still did) shown to me. She would make excuses or try to change the subject. So I’ve had to cut her out of my life. People who are selfish and mean don’t care that they are. They will not be taught. They think they are fine and you “wrong” for are “attacking” who they are. And people who may not be that way but love and support them are only enabling those people to continue being POS. Revenge or “karma” will not teach these horrible people the error of their ways. Introspection is their only hope. But I can understand the satisfaction that those who were once innocent who were “spit upon and kicked” get from those horrible people getting their just desserts. I’m not clever enough to devise retribution for those who hurt me so heedlessly. I just have to live vicariously through those who manage to do it without accidentally throwing themselves in the fire, too.

Coming back here after learning that lonely people take longer hot showers and baths to compensate for the lack of physical contact in their life. This proverb is so spot on in its allegory: burning something is psychologically associated to rage and aggressiveness. Even sadism, since the way you destroy your target is excruciatingly painful and total. Yet the fact that the child does it to feel any type of warmth coming from the village shows exactly why people who feel abandoned do it: they are lonesome and his mind yearns for any type of acknowledgement from those around him. So if they will not acknowledge him as their kin, they'll acknowledge him as their enemy.

I don’t know someone who was like this. I AM the person who was like this. I never really got anything good from my dad. I was plotting my revenge for a long time and I unintentionally did enough to knock him down a few pegs before I realized that karma had already kicked his ass for everything that he’s done. Now that this quarantine is keeping us all at home he looks almost like an angel compared to my mom and my grandparents who I am living with. Literally not 20 minutes ago my mom was yelling at me over food. FOOD! Yet when I talk privately with my brother about how I feel when I will never tell them my grandmother eavesdrops on is and tells my mom and then I’m the bitch for keeping my true feelings for them away? And that’s just one example of the awful things that I have discovered or experience during the pandemic alone. Let’s just say that when the move out and try the sell the house then I’m either setting it on fire when they are gone or I’m breaking as much crap as I can. It doesn’t matter anyways because the house is so old that it was most likely going to be torn down anyways. And if they sell it before they move out then I’m egging their new house every day for next week. No I am not saying that I’m setting it on fire to kill someone, I’m setting it on fire when they have moved out with all their crap and try to sell the house so nobody is in the house when it burns to the ground.

Since then she treated me like the rest and I've been great since then, she said she didn't realize how she was acting until that happened, and she would do literally anything to make me and my sisters happy and from leaving She even offered to buy me my own camper for the backyard and get me my own, legal address as long as I didn't leave her life. She's been a great mom tbh, she was so heartbroken and drank to forget the pain (she had left a abusive relationship around the time she started drinking, and she would be told the next day and would feel terrible and the whole morning gave us plenty of money to go shopping at the mall and we'd spend time and get along during the day. I think it was so we wouldn't call the cops and get her arrested but I mean that was some badass sushi and she is so much better now Also her previously abusive boyfriend got his crap together, hadn't been physically abusive in 6 years and hadn't been mentally abusive in 1.5 He's husband material according to literally everyone now lmao

I'm one of them children lmao, Long story short, whole ass family is abusive and neglectful to both my sis and me; mom has anger issues and then, she falls sick and needs to be hospitalized, so neither me or my sister wanted to go visit her on a long ass trip across the city alone(begin minors mind you). Next day I have to go cuz step dad has to work and she needs some clothes; turns out she got worse and almost died that one day me and my sis decided to not show up and was mad cuz I was "lazy" for not wanting to travel like 2hs on a full buss, then puts a disturbed face when I tell her that I couldn't care less about her. In shock she tries to make me feel guilty cuz I would have nowhere to go and no money if she dies, yet I still don't care nor show any expression. Now every time she gets verbally and physically abusive, I remind myself of how sweet her pain was that none of her children would give a deam about her even if our lives literally depended on her :)

What you have is actually very rare, especially these days. So, SO many people, even just here in this comment section, have had various types of abusive upbringing (myself included) and it makes it's mark on you. Some people handle it well and grow up to be decent people...others...not so much. If you ever encounter anyone who talks bad about their parents - believe them! So many people don't, or shout them down and say shit like "how can you say that? Your parents love you!" etc, etc, ad nauseum... There's parents out there that should have been a blowjob, if you get my meaning, lol! Not everyone should breed and bring up a kid/s. They're just too mentally messed up and abusive....and then their cycle of abuse that THEY grew up with continues....

I just learned about some toxic behaviors in my grandparents (they take care of me) after watching this, my grandparents always complain about me being lazy, but never give me chores and they won't teach me how to do laundry, I only recently learned how to tie my shoes when I actually decided to sit down for several hours (I'm 18) yeah ik it's sad, but like they always complain about how much work they have to do but when I bring up the idea that hey if you teach me how to do that stuff maybe you wouldn't have all that work to do, wanna know what happens they shut up for a month only to complain about that exact same thing over and over again, they won't teach me how to do anything, and they basically make me very reliant on them to do everything for me, I just turned 18 like two days ago and I'm so fucking worried that im not gonna know how to do shit or that I'm not mentally prepared for anything, god damn, at least I've been disciplining myself by working out and taking freezing cold showers, limiting my food intake, only drinking water and just all and all being hard on myself in the attempt to toughen myself up both physically and mentally so that I can at least get through the starting years of my independence with some ease. God I'm so scared that I'm gonna be so dumb.

Reddit, failing to realize a toxic relationship doesnt have to involve malice. Someone can have completely understandable issues that makes them the way they are. And even be seeking help. But that doesnt obligate anyone to stay with them, if theyre still toxic.

My petty and stupid example of this is from when I was in like fifth grade. It's mostly just funny now but that's why I'm telling it. We were not allowed to switch activities for an hour at the boys and girls club after we chose an activity, so being kids with no attention span we got really bored if we picked something bad. So I got my friends and their other friends together and ended up starting like a 10 kid riot because we were bored :/ there were too many of us for them to punish. We were subtle about doing damage, because it was mostly just little things like taking paper, tape, and other art supplies which we later made into signs with messages protesting our lack of choice when it comes to activities we didn't end up liking. I think the craziest thing anyone did during it was unplug a water fountain and step on the plug so it couldn't be plugged back in, not exactly what we initially set out for but what could we do? Pretty sure after that they had more leeway, they would let kids at least go out into the main room whenever. Depending on the staff member monitoring your activity, sometimes you could just walk out and go somewhere else. It was pretty fun actually, nobody got hurt or even tried to get physical, and it genuinely made the experience better... For the kids at least. I kinda regret the part where a water fountain plug was literally destroyed, but it was fixed the next day so we didn't care too much. Just a light-hearted story in the sea of destruction, hope you found it funny or interesting

My grandmother and grandfather treated my mother, her sister plus my brother and I and my aunts 4 kids too like something even lower than shit all our lives and did their best to try and cut us away from our extended family. But now they're nearing the end of their lives, they have the gall to contact us through facebook to "bury the hatchet" as they put it and put us all through so much emotional grief by thinking we'd just forgive and forget what they did to us. When they do die (and I know this will be frowned upon) not only will I go to the funeral just to tell the people crying what they did and why they aren't worth the tears, I will personally take a fat shit on their graves.

It's weird to hear the "Negative attention is still attention" perspective, though I did see it with my cousins. It just didn't seem considerable to me growing up because I got negative attention for breathing wrong or just existing, so more of that didn't appeal to me. The positive attention alluded me, though, so no matter how good I was how how great I did things, it never mattered.

Tfw I did something similar to cutting ties with my manipulative dad and I actually did end up homeless for a bit. Grampa helped me out (dads dad) because of some Korean notion of first born grandson is like a king but that kind of fucked me up in the long run in terms of learning about consequences. Its cool though because I pretty much immediately had a mental break and lost my job due to being in the mental hospital for two weeks. I couldn't afford college and also couldn't get any scholarships bc grades. My grampa then died and then I was just fucked up. Got put on more psych meds that ended up making things worse. Things are better now, but that was a shit time

A friend and cousins had to cut off the older generation of her mom’s side of her family because of all the abuse they committed against them as kids and now they’re plotting against them. My friend changed her last name and soon her cousins will too. There’s literally no one younger than 55 in the older generation and they’re trying to harass the shit out of her and them and even trying to extort them so at they can take care of them. Well fuck no! They’re all going to a nursing home or rehab facility when the time is right! My friend is taking her uncle’s property (her parents are dead and he adopted her even though he’s a pedophile) soon since he’s now in prison for life. Her cousins are taking their parents’ properties by declaring them unfit due to being addicts and seizing their properties.

I've done this type of thing a few times in my life. An interesting one was a no harm no foul thing compared to others but was quite memorable. Once I was playing on a discord rp server which took place on a boat. It was a prelude to establish characters for a Minecraft role playing server. I was rp'ing a thief who snuck abourd as a Merc after the guild was violently disbanded. The shit show of edgy teens gave me anxiety. A slave girl with a suicide complex, some powegamer who was permitted a knife spitting giant golem, a girl who believes rapiers can stab through anything. And I constantly got what on for having a Crossbow. (You could make an anime out of that line up) a dreadfully long story short. Me and two randoms managed to comandeer the ship and sail off to become pirates. We ruined their rp so much they threw the whole thing out and scrapped the discord thread. I would have chosen the time I got my manager fired for running me like a chain gang prisoner but that's a story for another time.

Don’t know if this counts or not but when I was young, I was told anything I did that wasn’t what my mom wanted was “bad” (such as answering a problem wrong, not saying what she wanted to hear, and basically having my own issues) so I gradually started cutting out my “bad” emotions and denying my problems existed because it wasn’t what people wanted. For years I justified this but when I turned thirteen, I started realizing that what I was doing was bad. I didn’t know how to stop or what to do (mainly because I started cutting out my emotions when I was five) so I just snapped. As expected, I was told that all of a sudden having problems was bad and I screamed something along the lines of, “They didn’t just ‘show up’! I have always had problems! You were just to stupid to see it!” I am now trying my best to “feel” again and I really hope I learn soon so I can feel happy again!
