Yeah. I do a decent Schwarzenegger. Lots of practice from ever since I was a kid.

@@OcpCommunicationsthat wasn't flicks mom on the phone. That was Schwartz mom spanking him over the phone. He was the kid also using profanity and he encouraged flick to stick his tongue to the frozen post.

So apparently during the filming of that scene? There was a screw up when it comes to right audio being used for the kid. The kid screaming is Flick. But they said Schwartz. And what makes it even more confusing is that the actor playing Flick? His last name is Schwartz.

Im in a group for this movie a lot of the bit actors are in as well. The son of one of the Chinese actors said his dad had a blast and the main actors were all super nice and fun to work with and he loved how much joy this movie brought. All the bit actors have said Ralphie and the Old Man were just the nicest people

Great review Mike, this is my all time favorite Christmas film and am a huge fan of it. Always watch it for 24 Hours every year on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Ohh how I love this flick... HBO used to play this like crazy in the 80s

I can't say I love it...I like it though. But this is not a Christmas flick I love like Home Alone, Scrooged, or Christmas Vaction.

Yes it would of been great to learn more of Flick and Schwartz but you can only do so much in a film that is just right around and hour and a half. Randy is annoying sure but he is what maybe like 5 in this film? Something like that. As the film progresses randy isnt as annoying. Also its not Flicks mom that is beating her child its Schwartz mom on the phone by the way lol. As for Scuts toady size doesnt matter dude Grover Dill was a tough kid, i mean Ralphie and his friends were terrified of him and Scut. Like Ralphie said mostly Grover Dill just hit you in the mouth. But they both were put in there place Ralphie had enough. The point of the red ryder was ralphie was trying to get acceptance by his father. Good review there dude

I only watch it once a year during my annual 12 films for 12 days before Christmas. I don't watch it for 24 straight hours on Christmas Day because it's considered replay abuse. I liked the film, but I don't regard the film as a Christmas classic or one of the greatest Christmas films of all-time, Black Christmas was way better than A Christmas Story. Sometime in the future, I might retire this film from my annual 12 films for 12 days before Christmas playlist and replace it with either John Woo's Silent Night or the 1989 French Christmas thriller "Deadly Games".

Well you pretty much have one person to thank for the movie becoming such a Christmas classic: "Ted Turner" Because when the film first came out, it actually only did okay at the box office. It wasn't a monster hit. But then ever since Ted Turner bought the film from MGM, he aired it frequently on his channels, thus ultimately resulting in its 24 hour marathon on TNT, and becoming a family favorite. That's actually the case with a lot of films. There's a lot of popular films where... the only reason they're so popular is due to the fact that they aired on Ted Turner owned channels. Cause Shawshank Redemption... despite the fact that it was loved by critics and got academy award recognition, that movie didn't necessarily light the box office on fire when it first came out. But once again, once Ted Turner got his hands on the movie due to the fact that he bought the company that made the movie: "Castle Rock Entertainment", it was aired frequently on his channels, and that resulted in it becoming one of the most beloved films of the past 40 years.

Yeah, it's kind of like how I feel about the Jim Carrey Grinch. Because... I definitely do have nostalgia for the Jim Carrey Grinch, I grew up watching the film on VHS and DVD which I got from my Uncle Jeremy, because he's a big Jim Carrey fan, but... I have to admit, the more times I watch that movie, the less enamored I become with it. At the end of the day, it's a movie that... I do think has its fair share of merits and good things about it, and I grew up with that film, and I watched it a lot, so I do have nostalgia for it, and so that's why, at the end of the day, I can still say that I'm... somewhat of a fan of that movie, because of how nostalgic I am for it, and it was clearly made as an attempt to try and tap the nostalgia market, but, I can definitely understand people's criticisms with it.

I thought this movie was OK, it's pretty harmless. Hard to believe it's from the same director as the first two Porky's movies-not to mention Black Christmas! Anyway, Mike, I posted another comment on your review of The Departed from a few months back. Have you looked on there and read it yet? Thanks.

It is crazy to think that Bob Clark directed this when you look at other films in his filmography that he did prior to this. I did see that comment. I just didn't think of anything to reply to it. But you made some good points for sure.
