I've read and reread A Christmas Carol and I think this is one of the finest versions put to screen. Yes it's true that it isn't a word for word, scene for scene by the book portrayal but what it is, so close to what Dickens' was trying to make people see. The songs are wonderful, the costume well designed. I have different copies of this and am glad to watch it a couple times a year. Happy that others gat as much joy from it as I do.
@jeastwood735810 ай бұрын
it is not a Christmas Carol though they even change the name because it was rewritten… I find it disrespectful of Charles Dickens… And Dickens told and portrayed the image of what he wanted people to see… He wanted people to use their own imaginations so they would understand it better…… It was more personal when he told it the way he told it instead of turning it into a show like this… If you want Hollywood this is it…

Based on wage inflation, Bob Cratchit's salary of 15 shillings per week translates to around $43,000 per year, or $14.20 per hour with the standard 60-hour workweek of his time. So it's true that he would have made more than the federal minimum wage. However, he was not "destitute" for his time, experts told USA TODAY.

Every living thing loves its own kind, every man a man like himself. Every being is drawn to its own kind; with his own kind every man associates. Is a wolf ever allied with a lamb? So it is with the sinner and the just. Can there be peace with the hyena and the dog? Or between the rich and the poor can there be peace? Lions prey are the wild asses of the desert; so too the poor are the feeding grounds for the rich. A proud man abhors lowliness; so does the rich man abhor the poor. When a rich man stumbles he is supported by a friend; when poor man trips he is pushed down by a friend. Many are the supporters for a rich man when he speaks; though what he says is odious, it wins approval. When a poor man speaks they make sport of him; he speaks wisely and no attention is paid him. A rich man speaks and all are silent, his wisdom they extol to the clouds. A poor man speaks and they say: “Who is that?” "why that's the carpenters son." If he slips they cast him down. Jesus O Savior I know not if you are real Come Come live in me .. Save me Amen and Amen
