Haha, thanks so much, boys! Nice to see a good old round-up video again! You made DOVRE sound absolutely wild too. I have a feeling the buffer in the 1176 clone in front of it might have been active - it's hard to tell visually from the video, but that will likely be why it compresses so incredibly strongly. Although it's not exactly how I envisioned it to be used, I kind of like it. Certainly shows you don't always have to follow the rules, and that when you don't, interesting things can happen! Oh, and Lee had the pronunciation pretty much spot on. Thanks again!

Well, that was outstanding. The thing I love about those Warm audio pedals is that they save you from yourself. "No, you may not have a hyper-exaggerated caricature tone. You will describe it as 'subtle' and then when you've put it all together in your signal chain you will be blown away.'

@CorbCorbin2 ай бұрын
There’s another company, I can never remember, who are doing knock offs, of the Warm Audio knock offs. They price things at $20-50 less. The only people I’ve known to use one, got the Phaser, and it sounds great. The Warm Audio are priced well, compared to the pedals they’re doing. Still don’t understand why so few don’t have a switch or footswitch, to take the mod effect out, and/or the preamp, so it can be used for just the preamp. Or, the chorus, without the preamp. Probably sounds like the Boss one. Sabbadius has a footswitch to take the mod out, so one can just use the Uni Vibe preamp. It has a very specific mid push, while keeping a clean sound, so it stacks really well.

Likewise, but the problem is that they are taking over the pedalboard due to sheer size! Lol

One very important note about the Warm chorus which was mis-explained in this video!... the vibrato mode isn't conventional vibrato with no dry signal. On this unit (and the original CE-1) the difference between the chorus & vibrato modes is the waveform of the LFO. In chorus mode it's a triangle wave and in vibrato mode it's a sine wave (smoother). Both modes are a blend of wet & dry. The only way to achieve conventional vibrato on this pedal is to use only the stereo output, which always outputs wet only.

That 76 pedal is great sounding. For the post-OD placement, though, you need to dial back the input gain so the compressor has more room to work.
@CorbCorbin2 ай бұрын
Yeah, why not really show what it does, and use the extremes on the Attack, Release, etc., instead of barely audible usage? I guess they used it with other pedals, but I’m not sure, or when. Fjord pedals do weird things, so I don’t know if that was it compressing itself, or what. 😄

Running a compressor at the very end of the chain is not as popular as having it right after your guitar. One example is Trey Anastasio. He squashes the signal at the end of the chain to achieve big time sustain, which is great for lead playing. Also, Bob Mould (Husker Du, Sugar) uses a compressor at the end of the chain to simulate a cranked amp, as he prefers to use really high wattage amps set very clean. And it makes the distortion from his pedal super smooth and compressed.

The CE1 clone from Warm Audio is the sh1t man- love it. Past FX already did their version of it, and they also did the preamp as a standalone pedal- if you're looking for it without the chorus and vibrato. I'd like to have the full version from either Past FX or WarmAudio- either one sounds great. That said- Warm Audio tends tom be considerably more affordable so- probably go that route. Not only that- Warm only uses the original components, right down to the part values- if they can't find them, they won't make the pedal. So, when you buy one of their clones, you're getting as close to the real thing as possible. That's their whole gimmick- to copy things exactly, even going through the pains of researching the company's history and the history of whatever pedal they're cloning. I like that.

I love the Tone City Double Durple ...it is a double clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a pedal of a Gibson amp. That amp was made by Chicago Musical Instruments. The owners of Gibson from 1932 to 1945. They made them in the Kalamazoo factory. It was the 1932 ... 8 watt Gibson EH100. Do you think Gibson will get MESA to bring back the amp, LOL 🤨

I'm a huge believer in the original CE-1 and I baby mine that I bought back about 20 years ago, they sound amazing but they show their age. Tried a lot of the clones incl. the Waza and the Retro-Sonic, they always seem to not get the warmth or warble to sound right. At least from the demo and another couple I looked up after watching this, the Warm Audio sounds bang on - I've already ordered one to play with. Thanks for the demo as always!

the fun thing about compressors - you can turn ALL THE KNOBS and will hear absolutely NO DIFFERENCE whatsoever
@stoneysdead6892 ай бұрын
It's a limiting compressor genius, you're not supposed to hear anything- that's the whole point. It gets rid of spikes and dead spots by compressing all your sound into a narrower band of both frequency and volume. That keeps you from stepping on the vocals, the bass line, or spiking because you were getting into it and started banging on the guitar or whatever. It's not a pedal you use in the bedroom, it's a pedal you use while recording or to fit into a mix better.
