I was so excited this morning to see (Part 2 of 2) for a classic, formal floristry design for large environments!!! Wow, how beautiful with the addition of the hydrangeas, roses, fresh lilies! The techniques you are teaching will enable me to take the floral designs in our church to a new level! This is so helpful and so exciting! Thank you, thank you!!!

Hello Converse, I made a mistake... this design is actually part 2 of 4, but if o try harder I might make it into a 6 part series. I hope this helps with your florals. Kind regards Astar

Thank you. The beauty of this concept and design is that once the base structure is in place, all you need to do is change out the focal flowers to suit any season and any colourway. Now that's what I call easy designing. Kind regards, keep safe Astar

Astar, I used to say to my mum, you can take the girl out of Southland, but you can't take Southland out of the girl. Love your beautiful work.

Hello Astar. I enjoy your tutorials. I love live flowers in my home. I am running into a problem with keeping them alive more than two days. Please suggest an flower food that prolongs the life of flowers. Also. What prevents the water to turning nasty looking Thank you for your input

Oooo it must be verry hot in your house. How to resist only 2 days? I leave beautiful Astar to tell u what to do 😊. There are a couple of things u can do without flower food.

Hello, flowers going off within days!!! I think I need to share the following tips- 1. Sometimes you might find that the flowers aren't fresh, 2. Or they have been in cool storage too long. I liken this to the limp lettuce syndrome. If it's too cold when you take the lettuce out it turns seriously watery transparent and limp really fast. 3. It might be too hot in your house. Flowers are like babies and need to be treated with exactly the same care. Not to hot, not to cold and not placed in a draught or direct sunlight. 4. Clean clean clean is the key. Flowers like babies, don't like germs. It's the bacteria that causes reduced life expectancy. 5. Slant cutting stems on the angle makes it easier for the bloom to suck up water. If the end of the stem is blunt and rests on the bottom of the vase then this acts like a seal and water can't be drawn up. 6. I never add any flower food, but as indicated above, ensure that every single component is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Remove all foliage that may be below the water level because that will create bacteria. Now here is another factor to be mindful of... some flowers don't like being together. DAFFODILS especially, release toxic waste into the water and will kill off other flowers. Goodness this is sounding like an Agatha Christie or Miss Marple crime thriller!!! Next time you get flowers and there is an issue, direct message me to Astarsplace instagram and we can video call to solve your problem. In fact I'll do a care and maintenance tutorial shortly. Very warm regards Astar
