Like 'em or hate 'em, the Cold Steel monsters always make one pay attention. (I like 'em.) This phenomenal grouping is making today's fixie hip carry look like a nail file in comparison. (Grabs twin 7.5" SK-5 trench knives for the second half of video.) There, now I've got some BKE (Big Knife Energy!) ⚔

What a coincidence. I had wanted one of these for decades but never got one and I recently took the plunge, just like you related. I made certain to get the San Mai instead of the 3V for "authenticity". I love it.

Great video ,great dagger here ! I could be wrong ,but I think a MASTER tanto is made of San Mai steel ; if it is not laminated steel it is a "regular" tanto .

I bought the San mai version and it had a perfect grind on both sides. I loved the knife so much I decided to get one in 3V and the grind on that one was so jacked up and off center. The center line was not straight and completely missed the center of the tip on both sides. The center line was also washed out and not crisp. There were hazy spots in the steel and it was not polished correctly at all. It’s like they grabbed a random person off the street and brought them in to grind the knives. Possibly hired an 8 year old to do the grinds.

It would be nice if coldsteel or whoever owns them could give the buyer an option of either the cheap ass plastic sheath or a better quality leather or ballistic nylon one.

I know it is kinda impractical but I use my cold steel colichemarde dagger to open my mail sometimes, other times I use a teeny tiny practically toothpick size friction folder that has a not super sharp edge to open letters with, I like using that one because the blade is just enough to slip under the seal and long enough to get a decent start on the opening too

This is definitely a gorgeous dagger. I remember when I first got into knives, all the cold steel catalogs were still available online, and I caught wind of the VERY limited Imperial Tai Pan which to this day I think is one of the most gorgeous knives I've seen. Just out of curiosity, have you every handled the Honshu dagger? They recently released a D2 and VG10 version as well.

I have this knife in CPM-3V. Up here in the rocky mountains this is part of my every day carry along with two Hellcat 9mm sidearms, a leatherman, a CKRT Big Dog pocket knife, a bic lighter, a ferro rod, and a flashlight. You city slickers wouldn't understand. The number one most important piece of gear is your bic lighter, you wouldnt last three days in the mountain wilderness without it. This knife is for wolves, mountain lions and wolverines that will jump on you before you can draw your sidearm. I will never go anywhere here in the mountains without this gear unless im in an area where its illegal.

City slicker here but I totally understand. I grew up out in the sticks and I very much wish I could carry a nice blade on my belt without people flipping out. I’m 50 now but a part of me is still the kid that would spend days tromping through the woods with my .22 rifle and a ka-bar on my belt.

I've never met a single person in my entire life that has been serious injured let alone killed by a wild animal. Honestly how often do you hear of anyone getting killed by a wild animal??? Few times a year. Look at the murder rates of the big cities. Cities are the real jungle.

The bolsters are stainless steel, 300 type series steel. But i hate the sheats, made out of glass filled nylon that scratches and dulls the edge. the sanmai makes it 20% stronger than the 3v blade. When it comes to sideways stress and it wont brake and alot better in the cold too.

as far as using knives as a means to kill someone or how ever you would call it. The thinnest blades are the best. Thin and pointy. This is because Our meat on our body is very sticky when you stab someone. Its not like in the movies where the blade goes in very easy. So you want a sharp thin pointy dagger for those reasons. I was in the military and then i did some contractor work for our govt. that is how i know. i am not a serial killer.. lol

Hello, my english is very bad. My question, os this PanTai in this video the 3v steel and what tip is penetrater, from.3v or san mai. What Steel should i buy ?
@zhangzisheng1057
@zhangzisheng1057 Жыл бұрын
It's San Mai steel in this video. I suggest you to buy 3V steel version. However, 3V steel needs to pay attention to rust prevention. At the same time, the nylon-glass fiber sheath from cold steel will blunt your dagger blade because the sheath material is too hard. I suggest you buy another sheath made by KYDEX or leather
