Been a huge fan of Cold Steel for about 20 years now. I have over 20 of their products and I have never been disappointed. I do not have a Taipan, but it is on the knife wish list. This video was great. Can't wait for more.

Cold steel is all go... and... still got show!! LoL 😆 🤣 😂 😹

It is a Japanese style of dagger, that was used for hundreds of years. This shape of blade was used by them throughout history. Their spears were the same shape! Got the 3v dlc version. What a blade. Flat ground, and like a double sided razor! Thinking of buying the new vg10 san mai 3 version, just for the collection. My uncle saw it and said he wished he had it in the wars. Wish they would make one with a micarta or g10 handle.

The Cold Steel Taipan dagger is a beautiful knife, maybe Cold Steels most beautiful knife design. I was thinking about buying one, many years ago. However, handling it in the shop, it did not feel good in my hand. This is of course a pure fighting knife, and such a knife should feel like an extension of your hand, it should feel really god in your hand. Because of this I never bought this knife. Others may not have my problems whit this knife, but if you have the opportunity to go to a shop and handle the knife before you buy it, it can be a good idea, whit this knife, and for that matter, most other knives.

Well, there is just a lot of misinformation in this video. Not every man-at-arms carried a double-edged knife....there are plenty of single-edged types of daggers that have been very popular throughout centuries. Furthermore it is simply not true that such a dagger was used "all the time". In fact the opposite is true: Most daggers have spend their entire "life" hanging from someones belt looking extremely cool and showing everybody that he is a wealthy man. Most daggers probably did not even see a single fight in their whole existence...they might not even have been drawn a single time with the person having the intention to use the dagger offensively. If you talk and teach people about history, then please do it the proper way and dont spread cliches or things that the mainstream-tactical-dude wants to hear.

@zednotzee73 жыл бұрын
You are quite right in what you say. Daggers were not always double edged. In fact, some Rondel Daggers didn't have an edge at all, and neither did Stilettos. Which style of daggers were popular depends on the period. And as you point out, dagger fights were not a day to day occurrence.
@niklasfischer39153 жыл бұрын
@@zednotzee7 Thank you for your confirmation. Yes, youre also right that some daggers didnt even have one edge...on the other hand one could even say that a stiletto has three edges. Anyways, I think that Cold Steels History-Lessons are often not very well researched. Either they just dont know any better and dont take their time to do proper research, or they just want to make their product more appealing to the average-tactical-dude by heroificating and dramatising the history of their knives....
