I have the Strat and the p bass. Great value and both sound and play great. I never had a 21 fret before and I actually prefer it now. It’s a lot easier to play higher up with the added spacing. The gripe with the Strat is the bridge is a basically a hard tail so it won’t surf or R&B without a bridge upgrade.

I just bought the sienna sunburst version, got it for only £300 new, I'm gonna give it a full set up and drop a loaded pickguard with custon 69's and in it and add gold locking tuners.

Beautiful guitar, sounds great, the colours combination is awesome. For some reason the headstock looks big, perhaps I’m used to Tele’s size lol. Tuners are the weakest point in Squiers, I replaced them with Graph Tech Ratio that are the best out there. Wonderful song Jon! Cheers ✌️🤩👍🎸

Just bought the exact same guitar, it's being set up with new strings and a buff, got a hell of a deal, pick it up in a few days, can't wait, it was either this or a used Mexican Strat(someone else's possible problems) and considering every review has said it's a step above the MIM Strat it was a no brainer.

I have to say that with the gold and especially the block inlay neck that's a beautiful guitar. However, as an owner since 1983 of one of the original JV series Squier Strats I'd personally have loved to see the JV series revamped and sold under the Squier name again for the anniversary.

Jon nailed some classic strat tones with that Squier. Close your eyes and it could have been a Fender. Love that color. Very similar to my Midnight Wine mim strat. Gonna keep an eye out for one of those bodies on STRATosphere. Can't say that neck with it's block inlay at the first fret is my cup of tea, and just don't like those big headstocks. Cheers!

The color is absolutely beautiful. I hate the 70's CBS headstock. In the beginning of the video the bridge pickup sounded more like a Tele than a Tele. The neck pickup as usual is very nice. Later on in the video the bridge pickup made me wish it had a split coil humbucker. The block inlays are screaming for an HSS combination. The gold pickguard is too much. I could see a cream colored guard in there. I was surprised to see that they are not making the body out of poplar like the rest of the Squier line. In 2010 I was so blown away by the Classic Vibe Squier line that I bought eight of them, including two CVC's because they reminded me so much of my 66 Tele that my Dad bought for me brand new back then and I still have. I have to say something here. The 2010 and maybe through 2012 Squiers Made in China were so incredible that they on average blew the doors off of the Fender full line guitars. The precision was out of this world.Okay the pickups weren't the very best, not bad though, but what is important is the accurate build of the body and neck. It even has the wrap around rosewood cap just like my 66. Just to prove my point that they finally took the Classic Vibes off of the shelf, and made them a warehouse order only guitar at Guitar Center, go into the Guitar Center website, and do a search for example of a Squier CV50 Telecaster and see how many stores have them in stock at your zip code, or any zip code for that matter. You will see none. They are all order from warehouse only. They got tired of people playing one of these starting back then, and buying one instead of the full line meaty price Fenders. Today they have cheapened the up somewhat with poplar bodies, and made in Indonesia which for some reason doesn't have the same quality, and they raised the price up by about $100 from the 2010 prices. I wound up selling 5 of my 2010 Squiers, and kept 3 of them, a Tele all mahogany Thinline, a CVC, and a Squier Vintage Modified Strat Flame Maple Cherry Burst Made in India with a Cedar body; it plays like magic but the fret ends deserve a little more polishing. By the way Jonathan, I have a Fender full line 51 Pawn Shop Made in Japan, and the precision is nuts. Love your channel, and thank you for allowing me to throw in my 2 cents.

Another excellent review, I did note this guitar is the highest price of any previous Squier, and I believe this is "ever" maufactured. That said, for $600 USD, one could get a Sire Larry Carlton S7. I really do like Fenders, but from a price point, IMO they are pricing themselves out on all product lines. I've owned Fenders since 1977, but now the price to me for the specs just don't add up. I somehow never can get used to block inlays on a strat. And golden hardware, hmmm. Seventies headstock has to be your cup of tea. I prefer the early sixties shape. Neckpickup sounds nice, I must admit. Bridge pickup is on the thin side. Just get a set of Gotoh's or Tonepros tuners if you don't want to tune all the time.

I agree with you Jon, i realy like the look of these Gold Edition Strats. But and it's a big but for me are the tuners, why oh why do they have to fit these horrid vintage style ones.? They are cheap and nasty, and a nightmare to upgrade, you can get vintage style locking tuners but they look naff. Modern staggered locking tuners would require reaming out the spindle holes, and then filling in the screw holes and refinishing the headstock, i can't stand unsightly screw holes! What on earth were Squire thinking of. How to spoil a great looking guitar. Andertons had these on offer, to move the stock, which kind of proves my point about the tuners. Thanks for your views on this guitar Jon. so near yet so far.

Thanks for this very nice demonstration. I'm a Squier fan despite that big bulbous headstock. I adapted to the thing. I like my guitars in the budget to outright cheap range. So I expect this model is beyond me but my gosh it is lovely. As for pickups? Truly, they all sound the same to me no matter shape or price. Tuners? I have never replaced a tuner in my life. Cheap tuners seem to work flawlessly. If my cheap unit goes out of tune I retune it. That's what tuners are for after all right? But I'm no Jonathan Koh. No hope no way. Sad to say. No talent matched with overwhelming desire, that's me. So I thank you for inspiring me to try harder still on my Squier Affinity's and my Squier SE's. You're an inspirational motivational speaker and picker.
