This is a solid car that works well. I installed mud flaps, a miller cat shield, and a homelink rear view mirror on mine and will likely get some body side moulding as well. The charging pad is standard even without the JBL option which I didn't want. Tried the hybrid camry but was too big and bulky for an empty nester like myself. Tinted the windows and this is a good looking car. Before you spring for the other so called sporty trim levels, be sure to look at aftermarket tire prices, as most of them are at least double the cost of the tires on the xle and le trims. The ride is very comfortable and quiet, much like a mini limo. Almost forgot, I tossed the cheap air pump and sealant that come standard and bought a scissor jack and full size tire for a spare. Not sure why Toyota cheaped out on the spare for the corolla hybrid as the gas corollas have a compact spare and jack. All in all, I'm satisfied with this car now with some minor additions.

I like the XLE version sadly Toyota dropped this in Canada in 2023 in favour of more sporty (and uncomfortable) SE and XSE hybrids.

my wife just picked up this model Corolla, now looking for a catalytic converter shield. The ones that date back to 2000 don't really cover the CC or am I wrong I have seen the Miller Cat Shield (which is really what I am talking about.

0w16 oil has been used in toyota hybrids for years. also, not sure why the comment about the battery location. where it is makes it very easy to replace when the time comes to do so. also, biggest priority for the engineers is to make a car that gets great MPGs, which it does. it is not designed to be the best handling car in the world.

All engineers want to make the car handle as best as possible, given the package. The more weight that lies out toward the corner of a car, the higher its polar moment of inertia. I don't fault Toyota for the Corolla's battery placement, but am simply pointing out that is a consequence of that placement. And, fair point on the oil weight.

I have a 2023 LE Hybrid in Underground. Great color, but because it's dark and non-metallic, it shows every little scuff and swirl. From a distance, it looks fine, but from up close, the finish looks horrible. I'll never get a dark non-metallic color again.

if you want the least maintenance and fuss, choose a light exterior and dark interior

I take it that you are not an engineer. Toyota pays their engineers to design the car the way it is. I would not be saying the 12v battery would have better over the front axles instead of being where it is. I just purchased a 24 camry se hybrid nightshade got it for $32k, it is a much better car in many ways and a better deal vs the corolla xle.

Engineers aren't always straightforward with thing and Toyota like any other brand have a track record for making mistakes. Seeing as it is a new car, we would have to wait a few years before we see any issues with these cars

When it comes to battery placement, I just want it to be located in a convenient place, under the hood where it belongs towards the front of the car. Prius placement of the battery in the back is probably one of the worse places when it comes to replacing it.@@longview3k69

I am an engineer, you can read about my background on my channel page. And I called out battery placement for weight distribution and polar moment of inertia. But often times engineers are forced to make hard choices based on time and budget. I do not begrudge for where the battery is, merely stating that its not ideal for driving performance.
